Hi Aminah, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have always loved to DIY, draw, and paint. I always showed entrepreneurship, I used to draw pictures and use glitter outlines to sell for $1.50 in elementary, and paint shirts sold in middle school LOL. It all started in 2019 preparing for my own baby shower for my 1st and only child.
After reaching out to numerous vendors I realized I could not afford everything I wanted to make my day special. I realized with the pricing of renting and owning it wasn’t a huge price difference. I bought and made everything; anything from a grass wall to custom-made baby blocks for my Babyshower.
My cousin and my mom self-taught balloon artist with the help of a few helpers made 2 big balloon garlands. This made me want to own most of my inventory and provide affordable event services. I had the feeling that wanted to connect with mothers, people who never experienced a special birthday due to affordability.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a learning experience. Write everything down in detail. Keep track of changes. Charge for all work.
