Rising Stars: Meet Amya Martin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amya Martin.

Amya Martin

Hi Amya, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hey Yall! It’s Amya “Nax,” as some of you may know me. I’ve been in the film & production industry for about 8 years now and am still growing into my career’s next steps. I have passions in music, art, and directing, whether creative or constructive. My main takeaway from this journey to the viewers or anyone aspiring to be anything in life is…

“Success is not defined by the destination; it’s the journey that gets you there. Success is not final; failure is not fatal. KEEP God first and trust that faith will carry you through every season.” -Amya

ALWAYS Be willing to learn, adapt, and grow. EMBRACE new ideas and take calculated risks. Surround yourself with positive influences and people who challenge you to be your best.

The only way to predict your future is to create it.

Don’t wait for opportunities; CREATE them. In this journey, you will face obstacles, but don’t let them stop you. Each step brings you closer to your goal.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Honestly, first starting out, I didn’t quite have the entrepreneurial skills I needed, and I’m still learning the business side of it as well. I took the challenges that were presented to me on my journey, and I overcame them little by little. I had to work on my problem-solving skills. I had to work on my goal-setting and my resilience strategy. But I did it. I took the steps to improve self then pour into my business that could then lead to pouring into others based off my business.

And here I am, on the other side, a better, stronger person because of it. Entrepreneurship is a journey, a journey full of obstacles and challenges. I don’t always get everything right, but I learn from it all in the end and use it to become better from that point.

I’m human above all else, I think once you reach a certain level or if you’re not at a level at all…people overlook that aspect of you and fill narratives that fit their agendas. I’m learning what I do for myself isn’t meant for everyone to understand…it’s my art, it’s my life, and I create what I want with it, and if you’re on that same journey, I’m wishing you well!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an All-Around creator in the film and production industry, if I see the vision in my head, I use the camera and resources around me to bring to it to life.

I help businesses and individuals create compelling content for their brands. If you have a story to tell, I can help you create a short film or a social media post that’ll make your audience feel something and see your vision!

It’s amazing how watching other people’s journeys and struggles can motivate you to chase your own dreams. But it’s not just about motivation; it’s the strength it takes to recover from losses and triumph in front of people who only care about the success of the end destination. I think that’s what sets me apart from others, my biggest problem was I wanted to see everybody win before me, I’d drown just to save a lot people. I know I’ll get my blessings on the back end though…I 100% believe my purpose is way bigger than the naked eye sees & I carry myself that way daily.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Mentors, structure, and guidance are so important being upcoming in the industry. My mentor provides accountability, support, direction, guidance, encouragement to help you achieve your goals. They’ve been there, done that, and can help you avoid mistakes and speed up your success. Networking is your best friend; your dream is only one tap of the shoulder away.

Shoutout to the many mentors I’ve had over the years, truly would not be half the woman I am without that support in my life.
