Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Blessed.
Hi Angela, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Funny thing how I started in the Media Business, I was invited to a Radio Station to talk about Mental Health Awareness, and I tried to have someone else to take my place because I was very nervous at the time. (Lol)
The guy that I asked to go in my place for the interview told me “No”, and that it was my assignment to do.
I went ahead with the interview, and it went very well to the point I was asked to come back and be the Co-Host of a Podcast.
As things got further me and the Host wasn’t seeing eye to eye, and we both agreed that I should start my own show which is called “Real Talk w/Angela Blessed”.
The Radio Station ended my Podcast on their Station. I was very hurt, and I wanted to give up. I prayed and asked God what to do he told me to start my own Internet Radio Station which is called “Vurtuous Radio” 8/25/2020. As of right now, we’re on AMP Live Radio.
Kept on with my Podcast that has been going very strong for three years now. Real Talk can be heard on Tunein Radio, Amazon Music, IHeart Radio, Spotify, and more. I can be heard in over 20+ other countries as well.
I also launch another Podcast for the Sports lovers because during the Covid I ran into some amazing Athletes, I started “Jive Talk Sports Podcast” we go around to the local schools, Community, and to other cities to Highlight the Athlete that may not have any Media Exposure, and expose their greatness.
We have interviewed many Pro Sports Players, and former Pro players as well.
I am actually attending School to become a Sports Agent, I just became Certified For Sports Marketing (Still Working On Branding)
I also have a Mentor Lifeskills Business Call Embracing Love-Mentoring 07/2011.
We help the youth that is dealing with rooted issues such as Anger, Physical Abuse, Emotional Issues, and more.
We hand out Journals so the youth can document their day to day life because a lot of them doesn’t like to verbally talk about their issues. Help them to get a clear head, and release the negative toxic energy.
It wasn’t easy getting to where I am at right now although I’m still working on my platform I do believe in being consistent in whatever you do at the end it will all work out.
It’s all about helping those that God has assigned to me. It’s about being that light of hope when everything else seems so dark.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This has not been a smooth road from the very first time when I decided not to give up. All kinds of tests and trials came my way.
From the people trying to Black-List me telling other Music Artists not to work with me, and calling me fake.
It was other Stations/Platforms that was mad at me because I wouldn’t join their platforms and just stopped speaking to me.
It was times I wanted to scream to tell each one of them off, but I stayed humble.
It’s been times all that I had was two pennies to my name… but I just kept pressing on.
I am in a male-dominated industry so I get those side eyes and the laughter when people find out I’m the face behind the Platform.
