Rising Stars: Meet Anu Ganesh

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anu Ganesh

Hi Anu, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It all began when I was a young child and we moved to Nigeria from India. Frequent moves between cities and later continents as an adult made me the person I am today. These experiences taught me that we create our paths and ways of looking at life, depending on what we consciously expose ourselves to.
I was a wife, an immigrant to the USA, and a mom, all before I was even 24. These life-changing moments were the stepping stones to self-discovery. Living in different places was the best education one could receive and I absorbed it all like a sponge!
As life progressed I looked further out to seize new opportunities which ranged from going to Nursing school and volunteering to hiking and moving to Europe! Finally, in 2015, we moved to Atlanta where I currently live and all the various puzzle pieces started coming together. I found friends who became family, work colleagues who became lifelong friends, and a job that did not feel like work.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road, but then whose road is smooth? We take the pebbles and stones along the way and build our dreams with them. I struggled with fitting in, in new spaces both professionally and socially as I had never stayed long enough anywhere. The world had moved on as I explored it. I had a choice now. Either I could blame others and whine about the situation, or I could deal with it head-on and face it. I decided to try the latter. I did not know how it would turn out but how else would I find out?
I made a sincere effort to reach out and if I did not find a circle that I liked and felt supported by, then I would have to create it. Having too many options to choose from is a good problem to have which we do not have to solve right away:-)

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am part of a US-based matchmaking platform for Indian-Americans called BanyanWay. I am the Chief Relation Officer and I head their personalized matchmaking service. It is a role where I get the opportunity to speak to people of varied ages and experiences and I love it. In this business, we are helping create the next generation, and we feel honored to do our small part in it. I am known as the ‘connector’ and this role is perfect for my personality! I feel proud of working my way up and feeling like an integral part of the team as I have been part of this effort since their first year 2017. I feel that what sets me apart is that I can empathize with people and sense their challenges or needs when they speak to me. I am approachable and genuinely want to help them. That is the core of everything I do.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson that I have learned along my journey is that as humans, we need each other to thrive. We are not in a race and no one is getting out alive anyway so why not support each other as we navigate life’s challenges? Someone held a hand out to us when we needed it so let us pay it forward to another person. Let us lift others whenever we can and build a synergy together.
