Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Estrada and Alecia Bardes.
Hi Ashley and Alecia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Two best friends who loved to create and decorate anywhere from houses to parties. We began creating about twenty years ago and have continued through marriages, children and a business launch back in 2020. Alecia is in the corporate planning world and Ashley is an Art educator. We enjoy creating together as we get to spend quality time together while making beautiful items for people to enjoy and cherish.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When we began this business a few years ago there were lots of obstacles we weren’t aware of and have had to learn and adjust. Some include weather, seasons affect dry times, inflation of the products we use such as wood and just juggling being moms, wives, careers and this wonderful business we share. Timing is everything for us and we have learned how to be productive and efficient while juggling all of the hats we wear.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Our work goes beyond creating standard home decor. We custom-create pieces for our clients that are close to their heart. We create nursery decor to welcome your new little one, sports-themed pieces to showcase your favorite team/s, a custom art hanger with your child’s name on it, and we help bring memories to fruition with a voice QR code and photo frame. Our possibilities are endless, and there is no greater reward than seeing the happiness on our client’s faces when they see their new piece.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up Alecia loved creating. She would play computer interior design programs for hours creating new interior design layouts and home decor looks. She spent her high school career in chorus, drama and dance. Alecia enjoys abstract painting and creative party planning. The past 15 years, she has designed and created her daughter’s birthday party themes and decor.
It’s possible Ashley could hold a crayon or paintbrush before she could walk. She gets the love of art and creating from her mother who is a talented artist. Her grandmother and aunt would take her to different museums where she could admire art. The love and inspiration of art continued for Ashley in elementary school when her art teacher, Ms. Pam McCloud, taught her about many famous artists and how to create like them. Much like Alecia, Ashley enjoys creative party planning for birthday and other celebratory events where there is a theme and everyone enjoys themselves.
