Rising Stars: Meet Aubri Escalera

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aubri Escalera. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Aubri Escalera is a Mexican National raised in the United States of America. Aubri is an activist for transgender rights and immigrant rights. Escalera is Co-Founder / Co-Director of GA Trans El/ Ella & Allies where her focus is improving the living conditions and protecting the identities of our TGNC communities. Aubri is an active Trans Leader in the Atlanta area and a Proud Immigrant voice for our LGBTQ+ families and allies. Currently also a legislative aid for representative Park Cannon 58.

Aubri Escalera is not only a Trans Latina Immigrant but also a Feminist and Human rights activist who was raised in a conservative South Ga state under the “Good ol’ boy network” a system whom shows favoritism within leaders. Which is a contributing factor causing systemic racism including wealth, the criminal justice system, employment, housing,  healthcare, politics and education.

She later met a BailBond Business Guru where she learned her Management skills in Professionalism and strong work ethic from a young age in Bali Bonds / Court Case Proceedings. As a Personal Assistant and Secretary of Savannah Bail Bonds for over 15 years, she was able to live her life under the radar and was protected and isolated from the public Disclose or Discussion of Gender was off limits. She learned to be the best women she could be under strict criticism.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I was privileged enough to live the American dream such a young age, being able to share my experiences and having a role model like myself which I didn’t have growing up as one of my biggest accomplishments. Mexican identity gender law was also another one of my biggest accomplishments with a group of trans women from all across the southeast.

Representation matters character matters your voice matters and your vote matters.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Legislative aide for Park Cannon District 58 Community activist and Organization Co-Director.

Bringing awareness to modern-day activism.

“Bringing communities together “communities not cages”.

Mexican national gender identity laws.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Being able to share my story from a national news in the public eye, where we know our community is at constant threat within the LGBT but also the tgnc (transgender not conforming Communities).
