A’Yianah (Pressure) Dugar

Hi A’Yianah, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my clothing line back in 2018 called “202 Applying Pressure.” I’m from Washington, DC & that’s where I got the (202) area code from. The shirts I had in 2018, I still have some left. They didn’t sell as well / as fast. Fast forward to 2020/2021, I decided to re-drop the brand with a different logo. I paid someone to make my clothes and all & they were horrible. The color scheme and the size of my logo were too small for the shirt and the material wasn’t ok. 2022, I decided to redo it again and for the last time, but I wanted to start doing sweatsuits since the shirts wasn’t working. The sweatsuits started selling every single day/week & I was making them on my own. I now have Shorts, Shirts, Sweatsuits & bathing suits. All sizes, including infants.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The challenges of having a clothing line is deciding what the people actually like. Everyone doesn’t like to just put anything on. I wanted something you could wear outside & someone compliment you. The logo sizing was hard, the type of material was hard & actually finding a good vendor was hard.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I print clothes. I’m known for sweatsuits but I’m trying to expand my brand as the seasons are changing. I’m proud that people are wearing my brand. I’m proud that my hard work/ideas, people are loving them. I’m proud I have Celebrities wearing my brand. I’m different from others because I listen to my customer’s needs. Whatever they ask for, they get.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Take your time. Every time you rush something, it doesn’t go as plan. When you take your time, your vision will come out like you plan.
