Rising Stars: Meet Brandon Carter of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Carter.

Hi Brandon, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Well, I’ve always been a creative. By day, I work as a designer and art director, so I’m naturally drawn to visualizing and sketching ideas. But beyond the creative direction, I’ve always been pretty handy I can look at how something is built and then recreate it myself.

Over the years, I’ve done interior design and DIY projects for myself and my family. In 2022, after going through a divorce and moving into a new home, I found myself wanting to add features the house didn’t come with. I spent weeks renovating the laundry room, pantry, and closets, adding feature walls, and even installing a fireplace. It started as a personal project to stay busy and increase the value of my home.

As friends came by to see the updates, they encouraged me to share my work on TikTok. That’s when everything changed. My first client came through a gym buddy and shortly after, one of my pantry builds went viral. From there, my client base started to grow, and my weekends quickly filled up. Surprisingly, most of my recent clients have found me through TikTok. Since then, I’ve launched a website and started marketing my services more intentionally.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Honestly, it’s been a fairly smooth journey so far. Each build comes with its own set of challenges, but I take them as they come and tackle them in the moment. Every project requires a bit of creative problem-solving, which I actually enjoy. Of course, there have been learning curves along the way, especially with time management, since I typically only have weekends to complete most projects. That’s why reinvesting in the right tools has been essential. The better equipped I am, the more efficient and seamless the builds become.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m especially proud of my pantry work, but more recently, I completed a custom bookcase and cabinet build that turned out amazing. The final result exceeded expectations, and the client was absolutely thrilled!

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Since my work falls more into the “nice to have” category rather than a necessity, its demand tends to grow alongside the housing market and homeowners’ interest in personalizing their spaces. As long as people continue investing in their homes, there will always be a desire for upgrades and custom projects.
