Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Gardner.
Hi Brandon, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My interest in cars started when I was nine, and my dad introduced me to BBC’s “Top Gear.” The comedy and sheer passion for cars were genuinely inspiring for me. The television show and a used copy of “Forza Motorsport 4” for the XBOX 360 hooked me on cars. From that point on, a lot of the entertainment I sought after was automotive-focused. Whether it was Top Gear, the growing space of automotive YouTube, or even car magazines, I would try to absorb as much as possible about cars. Since I was a kid, my dream has always been to work in the automotive industry. I vividly remember this, but when I was driving to Costco with my Mom when I was about nine, I came up with the idea of owning an automotive company with the word “Boundless,” meaning “having no boundaries.”
I thought of that word because the automotive industry has the ethos of constantly pushing the boundaries.
Throughout my childhood, I never participated in any “automotive clubs” or events throughout middle and high school. I always went to car shows with my dad, but my friends never liked cars, or at least the way I did. I assume that was partially because we couldn’t drive at the time. Instead, I was a band kid. There’s nothing wrong with that; it taught me a ton about being a human and working as a team. But I still continuously loved cars, sim racing, and even participating in esports drifting events. In 2020, as a teenager with no responsibilities during the pandemic, I put in the hours and learned a lot about sim racing.
Fast forward to 2022, during my senior year of high school, I started recording this sim racing and uploading it to Instagram & TikTok, and people enjoyed it. Those clips helped me grow my following to over 50,000 followers in about a year. I had a knack for social media creation. Fast forward to my first year of college, I started my own marketing company, helping small businesses and entrepreneurs grow their social media audiences. However, marketing was never the end game; it was a stepping stone for my goal of being in the automotive industry and owning my own business within it.
So, in July of 2024, I stopped pondering on the “dream” of creating a sim racing company and finally jumped on creating Boundless Racing. Today, Boundless Racing is a sim racing company in Metro Atlanta that sells parts and turnkey simulators. My company also does logistics for people who want simulators at corporate or private events.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been anything but smooth. From small things to finances, I’ve dealt with it all.
The first thing was starting something new in a relatively niche industry, so there’s been a lot of trial and error. Everything moves fast because of the expedited compound growth of sim racing over the past five years. Unlike my experience in marketing, there are no mentors or masterminds to shorten the trial-and-error phase and no solid education in the “e-commerce” space. The industry is a dog-eat-dog world, and bootstrapping this company does not help at all. There have been many challenges with finding the right people and working with the right companies that align with my passion for sim racing and honesty as a company. But overall, I’m incredibly grateful for the challenges. I have learned a lot and grown as an entrepreneur and person in the past few months. I still have much to learn and endure where I want to grow Boundless Racing, but I’ll always be grateful for the good and bad.
Another big thing is having a vision and faith in your business. Having the clarity and goals of what you want to achieve will help you keep going even if the world is crumbling around you.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Boundless Racing specializes in all things sim racing! We sell products and turnkeys and even bring sims to all types of events, whether car-related or not, to help bring in foot traffic and gather leads.
Regarding our products, we sell only the highest quality of products from sim racing companies worldwide. We’ve tested basically everything, so we know what a “good” simulator is made of. Regarding our turnkey simulator builds, we aim to have a close-to-life-like experience. We confidently say we make some of the best sim rigs in the world for a phenomenal price. The majority of our competitors charge way too much for too little. We pride ourselves on having immense care and craftsmanship when making our simulators. Whether the build is for a kid or a professional racer, it is $5,000 or $50,000, and we will always put you first and create something out of this world.
What sets us apart is that our small team are sim racers and dedicated car enthusiasts first. We understand what it takes to fully extract everything out of a simulator for immersion, realism, and to go fast. Being small also means we are flexible and quick and care immensely for everyone we work with.
We showcase our simulators at different car shows throughout the Metro Atlanta area and will open a store front soon, so follow us on Instagram to stay up to date with what we’re doing!
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
With the hustle and bustle of life, honesty and integrity matter most to me. More often than not, we need to put the value of humanity first before anything else. We’ll meet many people in life, but being genuine and honest will get you a lot further than faking it until you make it. Being honest with people about how you are in business, as a person, or even what you think of ideas/other people will allow people to respect you and your craft more than trying to inflate it. I’ve worked with plenty of people with that “fake it til you make it” mentality, and it never ends well. Whether it be a sour ending with a partner because they overpromise and under-deliver or a person who doesn’t hold up their end of the bargain, trying to portray yourself as someone you’re not will always hurt you. No matter what industry you work in, one burned bridge is too many, as people will move to different companies and positions that can affect you later. Being genuine and honest about your actions will help you grow faster not only in business but as a person than trying to fake them.
