Rising Stars: Meet Brandon Mayo of South Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Mayo.

Hi Brandon, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
Back in 2013, I launched my first business called borderline boutique. It was an online clothing store that catered to men and women in college who loved trendy and affordable clothing. Similar to a forever 21 or fashionova.

Although I had some success, within the first year I decided to step back and focus on one product. Since most of my sales at that time came from women’s shoes I decided to move forward with that. I went with for a few years and realized it wasn’t working for me. It wasn’t my passion.

Fast forward to when the Covid shutdown hit. June 2020, I purchased a heat press and cricket machine and birth a custom t-shirt business. Basically shirts on demand for ppl in of my services. From 2013 until June 2020 I did nothing but learn more about the industry that I wanted to be in. So I listened to E-Books, webinars, purchased courses and all to learn a new skill and cut cost. That was most important because I was left with a lot of inventory from my last business.

As of today. My brand “Extrramayo”is the sum of all my failed businesses. My brand represents being a beast, being a monster if you want to achieve your goals. It is deeper than fashion. It’s about inspiring others to go after their dreams.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Very rocky and a learning experience. My biggest struggle was trying to do everything by myself. Get the clothes, style the clothes, take the pics, upload on the website, ship the orders, run a social media. It gets overwhelming at times. But it’s a part of the process. It prepared me for today.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a selling store manager for a mid-luxury brand. I specialize in connecting people with beautiful product.

I am known for being the plug. Whether that’s business advise, personal, or general. My life has always been set up that way.

I am most proud of leaving my hometown to become something greater than I ever would have imagined. Literal blood sweat and tears.

My personality, personal style, and goofiness is what set me apart from others. I try to stay true to myself.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love that the networking is endless here in Atlanta. You can always find someone in any industry that you are in to guide you throughout your path.

I hate that Atlanta will burn you out if you do anything to much. You tend to see the same people over and over again. Oh and the traffic. Lol
