Rising Stars: Meet Brian McGuire of Midtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian McGuire.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m Brian McGuire — the “B” in B. McGuire Marketing. At heart, I’ve always been a storyteller and a creative. Over the years I built a corporate marketing career around one core skill: taking almost any subject and weaving a go-to-market story that resonated.

But somewhere along the way, I noticed a pattern: small business owners absolutely understood their product or service, but struggled deeply with turning that into a clear, customer-attracting online presence. Their energy and talent were tied up in what’s inside their doors; the digital side often felt murky, confusing, expensive.

That tension became my mission. I launched B. McGuire Marketing to specialize in solving that gap — to build bridges between the “inside story” of your business and how you show up online. From day one, our pillars have been:

Strategy first — deeply understanding your business, goals, and what actually moves the needle

Simple solutions — making marketing accessible, not overwhelming

Flexible delivery — whether it’s “DIY,” “do-it-with-you,” or “do-it-for-you,” we meet clients where they are

Transparent results — reporting and accountability are nonnegotiable

Ongoing support — before, during, after — your success is our success

Today, B. McGuire Marketing helps service providers, local businesses, and organizations amplify their visibility, reputation, and reach — especially in the digital spaces where most customer journeys now begin. Every project is powered by the same creative, marketing-driven mindset I started with, now sharpened for small business realities.

If I had to sum it up: I turned my passion for storytelling and marketing into a mission to empower small businesses with clarity, confidence, and digital muscle.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Honestly, it’s been a pretty smooth road — mostly because we’ve been intentional about how we grow. From the beginning, I didn’t set out to be the agency that’s chasing every client or trying to sell a laundry list of services to anyone who would listen. Instead, we’ve leaned into the specific challenges of specific businesses.

That approach has kept us grounded. It means we can focus on listening, tailoring solutions, and actually solving problems instead of spreading ourselves too thin. Of course, like any business, there are moments where you question if you should scale faster or cast a wider net — but resisting that pressure has been a strength. By staying focused, we’ve built deeper relationships and earned more trust.

So while we haven’t had “struggles” in the dramatic sense, the challenge has really been holding the line: choosing steady, thoughtful growth over rapid expansion. And for us, that’s made all the difference.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My background is actually in chemical engineering, and I started my career in technical and sales roles. Pretty quickly I realized what I loved most wasn’t the formulas or processes, but figuring out how to tell the story in a way that connected with people. That led me into marketing and communications leadership, where I spent years shaping strategy and learning how to align everything around the customer journey.

What struck me, though, was how often small businesses were left out of that level of strategic marketing. They deserve the same clarity and storytelling, but in a way that’s simple, accessible, and budget-friendly. That’s what inspired me to launch B. McGuire Marketing — to take what I’d learned over decades and make it work for business owners who just want practical solutions that help them grow.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
There are honestly too many people to thank by name. Over the years I’ve had mentors, teammates, and clients who believed in me, challenged me, and shaped how I think about both business and life. I wouldn’t be here without all of them.

One pivotal moment that stands out, though, was early in my career when I was unexpectedly offered the chance to lead a Marketing Communications department. At the time, I had never worked in marketing before. I said “yes” on the spot — and then promptly panicked. But that leap of faith changed everything. It put me on a new path, one where I discovered a passion for storytelling, strategy, and connecting businesses with their audiences.

That single decision, encouraged by leaders who saw something in me before I saw it in myself, set the stage for the career I’ve built and ultimately for B. McGuire Marketing.
