Rising Stars: Meet Brianna Carr

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brianna Carr.

Hi Brianna, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
At a young age, I discovered that I am a teacher at heart. But more importantly, I also discovered my gift to creatively communicate through video production. I fell in love with the video production process – from ideating to filming to building the story in post – it was all a natural vehicle for my mission to teach and inspire others.

My number one goal after obtaining my BA in film directing at Jacksonville University and MFA in producing for film and television at Regent University was to come straight to the Hollywood of the South – Atlanta! I wanted to be a part of the blossoming community of movers and shakers in my field. I love the fact that Atlanta has so many creatives and visionaries who are passionately pursuing their life callings in business and the arts.

I’m originally from Jacksonville, Florida. Although it’s not too far from home, moving to ATL was no doubt a leap of faith. At the time, I had no job prospects and little money. A distant Aunt who lived in Alpharetta allowed me to stay with her while I applied for jobs in Atlanta. Working for PBS has been a lifetime goal since high school, so I applied for a job at Public Broadcasting Atlanta. Get this, it was a receptionist job! At the time, they didn’t have any openings in the TV department, but I knew that if I could just get my foot in the door, my dedication and grind would take me the rest of the way. With God’s grace and favor, after a year and a few months a position finally opened up in the TV department. I became a production assistant, soon after a creative content manager and then finally a multi-platform producer, writer, and editor.

My 9 to 5 at Public Broadcasting Atlanta has been a blessing for me to execute and grow in my craft. I’ve been nominated for two Emmys and received a Bronze Telly Award while at PBA. Inspired by the success, I remembered why I came to ATL in the first place. I reminded myself that my creative energy is not just for my 9 to 5. So, I launched Queen Créatif Media – a production services company that offers videography, video editing, and production management.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
You know, as an artist and creative professional, I always have to fight against the paralyzing voice of “perfection”. Overthinking about your craft can cause you to hold back which is unfortunate for yourself and those who can be empowered by your gift. So, I am learning not to back down from creative challenges and to think outside of the box when given the opportunity to create new content.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Queen Créatif Media offers quality production services to everyday people and businesses in Atlanta. I produce, shoot and edit commercials, social media promos, community events, documentaries and whatever my clients want to bring to life on the screen. Many people don’t have a big budget but it doesn’t mean that they should not have content to push their story or brand. I believe everyone should have access to quality video production services.

I think my clients appreciate my willingness to walk with them through the creative process, my ability to be resourceful and work within their budget. I am proud that I can help shine a light on someone’s mission or life story. I know how much it means to step out and start a business or organize a major event. Queen Créatif Media is here to capture and amplify the beauty of it all.

I call myself Queen Créatif not to imply that I have mastered or arrived to a high status in my craft but to reflect my heart to serve the people and give them a platform to be seen and heard. I should add, not only to be seen and heard but to be seen and heard in a way that is beautiful and unique. I’ve always been inspired by the story of Queen Ester in the Bible. She used her position to help her people. I feel compelled to use my position and gift to help people in my community. Whether it is a local start-up trying to amplify their brand through video content or an artist who wants to tell a story through song, it’s always my goal to manifest their vision and bring it to life through video. Queen Créatif’’s mission is to “Serve Everyone, Manifest Visions and Amplify Voices.”

What’s next?
I look forward to expanding Queen Créatif Media to not only provide production services but to produce short films and documentaries for the film festival circuit. I would also like to connect with local non-profits to produce community forward content that shines a light on social issues and disparities faced by families in low-income communities. I would like to produce content that heighten social awareness.
