Rising Stars: Meet Briona Wyche of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Briona Wyche.

Briona, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My life was turned inside out after my tragic car accident in Avondale Estates during October 2020. Didn’t know how much my life would dramatically change especially after losing my leg. It was a very traumatic yet humbling and intimate experience for me. Before my accident, I was hyper focused on my automotive passion and career. I thought I had everything figured out until I didn’t (we’ve all there before🥲). Thankfully, my entire family came to show love, support, and sometimes just an ear or shoulder to cry on. During my time of rehabilitation and therapy, I picked up some of my old hobbies via makeup, coloring, sketching, poetry, and a lot of reading. One of my favorite books that helped reshape my thinking in such dark times is called “The Power of the Subconscious Mind” by Dr. Joseph Murphy. It was gifted to me from my good good friend <3. I used my time mostly in solitude, where I felt safe to express my rawest emotions early on. It fueled my creativity and reminded me of my own strength with a mustard seed of faith within myself to continue to love, grow, experience and pour into others whenever I could. A year later, I got married to my bestest friend in the entire world. ✨💖🖤 He still continues to support, cheer me on, and remind me that I am beautiful with a whole heart of gold and his favorite smile. He encourages my light to glow and grow tremendously. From there, I started my showcasing my creative work on Instagram and YouTube at TheePumpkinQueeen (yes, with 3 e’s 😉). I have always been pretty shy and was comfortable working “behind the scenes” so this was definitely out of my element. Responding to comments of gratitude and awe and just simply posting, was a bit overwhelming at first but I guess time heals all I suppose. I really like connecting with like-minded people and seeing them flourish and doing their own thing. Overtime, I gained a new friends, newfound confidence being an amputee. Don’t get me wrong, we all have our days where we need a break sometimes, right? I will tell you this though, I’ve been having more great days than not so great days as time progresses. “It’s all ways greater later” they say. Finally at a place where I feel like I am apart of this world still. I am extremely grateful for the outpouring of love, support, recognition, and compassion from love ones, friends, strangers, and true fans of the artistry. 🤟🏾🫶🏾

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not! And I wouldn’t change it for the world😊. Through this journey, I’ve learned so much about myself and what I am capable of. I’ve met some of the most amazing people that have brought joyful tears to my eyes with their genuine love, positivity, advice, and support. These challenges are my successes, regardless of failed results. When I want something, I act as if it’s already mines. “I’m a hustler baby, I just want you know. It ain’t where I been but where I’m bout to go.” – Pharrell

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a homemaker/housewife by day and an alternative black content creator by night. I love showing off my new killer looks and alternative/goth choice of nail styles. I do my own nails and makeup and showcase them on TIKTOK, Instagram, YouTube and Facebook groups. To be honest, I just recently got comfortable taking full body pictures. It took me a couple of years to accept my amputation and using a prosthetic leg. Seeing it in a photo, once upon a time, use to sadden me deeply up until recent. What make me unique is that even though we all have scars, seen and/or unseen, we can still allow that light of ours to shine thru the world with resilience and fierce because we made it. I’ve been so comfortable dimming my light with fear of naysayers and haters and impossible expectations. Now, I am no longer afraid to be who I am now and I only continue to inspire others to do the same.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love Atlanta because it’s never on the same wave too long but yet it’s still room for everyone to be and feel like a celebrity in our own right. I love how it’s always something to do, and it’s always some new beautiful people to meet. Also, we have some of the best foods Atlanta has to offer. I really appreciate how to the city fills the communities with resources, information, hosting charitable events, and great live music. The only thing I would love to see change is the traffic!
