Rising Stars: Meet Bronsonn Taylor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bronsonn Taylor.

Hi Bronsonn, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
In my early childhood, I was a military brat and moved around a lot, but I loved experiencing new environments and cultures. However, once my parents separated things changed dramatically. Me, my mother and siblings had to move to a really bad neighborhood. None of us were accustomed to this type of environment but we quickly learned how to navigate “life in the hood.” I always knew this wasn’t the life I wanted for myself so as soon as I was eligible I enlisted in the military. I deployed several times during my tenure, received dozens of awards and commendations, and was promoted to the senior level. I also finished my associate’s and bachelor’s degrees, was a signed recording artist (x2) and was a sponsored NPC bodybuilder, After retirement, I had no idea what I wanted to do so I decided to enroll in grad school for forensic cyber intelligence. I graduated at the top of my class and was invited to join a panel of experts at my alma mater. I also created “The iINSPIRE Project” a not-for-profit organization where I draw from my life experience to provide guidance at my speaking engagements. One day I saw an ad for a commercial acting seminar at Greg Alan Williams action school “Actor’s Breakthrough” After attending the seminar I decided to enroll in acting classes.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has been rough but nothing worth having is easy. After attending classes at Actors Breakthrough I thought the doors were going to just fly open, but this was not the case. I received auditions steadily but I wasn’t receiving callbacks or booking jobs. I felt like a huge failure and I that I wasn’t going to ever book anything.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Fortunately, I retired from the military and receive full benefits, so I’m set for life. I do have degrees in intelligence, geospatial and cyber, so if need be I’ll jump into the corporate world. However, I have zero plans on doing that. I love being an actor and cannot see myself doing anything else. I’ve truly found my calling. I think what sets me apart from other actors is how I approach a role. I literally become the character I’m portraying from the moment I receive confirmation that I booked the role. I require my family and friends to address me as the character’s name. I arrive on set in character and do not break character until the project is complete. I believe if I actually adopt the persona of the character I will be able to provide a more authentic performance. I am most proud of booking my first three SAG roles back to back with less than three years of acting experience at the time. This further proved this is what I’m meant to be doing.
