Today we’d like to introduce you to Bry Cooper.
Hi Bry, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Bryce Cooper. I’m an A&R, manager and marketer from Los Angeles, CA. With my dad being a producer, I’ve always been really passionate about music. Started producing when I was 11. But I always knew that that side of the industry was saturated. So I knew I was going to have to kind of finesse my way into these rooms and get it out of the mud. 6. After I graduated high school, I came to Atlanta knowing working in the music industry was what I wanted to do, but I just didn’t know exactly how I was gonna get there. When I was living in LA, I had the opportunity to work and learn a lot from Cory Rooney, he’s grammy winning producer. And ultimately that led to me Grammy U. Which led to me working at Slaughter Gang, Quality Control. Warner Music, and now Sony Music/Epic Records.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of the main struggles I had was being persistent. When you reach out to these people in the industry, you’re going to get ignored, you’re going to get left on read; that’s just a part of getting it out of the mud. But you gotta use it as fuel, use it as motivation to keep pushing forward and don’t get discouraged when things aren’t going your way because there’s always a way out. There’s always light at the end of the tunnel.

My name is Bryce Cooper. I’m an A&R, manager and marketer from Los Angeles, CA. I currently work at Epic Records doing publicity. I’m also a student at Morehouse College, majoring in business administration with a concentration in marketing. Over the last two years, I’ve worked at a handful of labels, including Slaughter Gang, Quality Control Music, Warner Music, and Epic Records.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was pretty quiet and laid-back. But I always had an interest in music, and I knew that to be successful in this industry, you have to be vocal and interact with people. A closed mouth doesn’t feed. For the majority of my life, though, I was a hooper. I always knew I ultimately wanted to do music, but for 15 years of my life basketball was my main priority. It wasn’t until I graduated high school when I started taking the music business seriously.
