Rising Stars: Meet Carlon Addie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlon Addie.

Hi Carlon, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Known as “Carlon A.” hailing from West Nashville, Tennessee; I’m a 21-year-old artist, songwriter, and soon to be a producer. As a kid, I partially grew up in a church home but found my roots from car rides and listening to music at home. From going to Akron, Ohio on my school breaks to moving from Nashville at an early age, this leads me to an alternative R&B/Soul route that would form me to the artist I am now. I started creating because I saw my brother making music in his room with his friends.

I made my first verse to a remix they were making to Tyga’s “faded” track. After making the verse, I didn’t want to become creative by any means in music. I wanted to cook and open my own restaurant. After a while, I gave that dream up and started focusing on my new profound love for music. I took music seriously after my nephew’s passing in 2017 and ran with it since. He would always jump and smile when I played my tracks for him. I thought if I could make him smile through my tracks, hopefully, I can do it for other people too. You can look at my crew and me up on Instagram @fourfortyfour.usa. On Twitter @_fourfortyfour and my personal @therealcarlon

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest struggles with music did not have a reason to continue to create and not feeling good enough about my sound.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I create based on feelings. Whatever I’m going through I put in my songs. I try to relate to the people listening and know they aren’t the only ones going through their situation. I can possibly say I’m most proud when people tell me a song is beautiful or they showed their people. It fills me with joy cause they don’t have to listen to my music. I’m just happy people stream it. The thing that sets me apart from the most artist is my versatility. I’m able to do anything I hear.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
For networking, go to events and be yourself. Just talk to people and connect. Networking has changed my life and has put me in positions to further my music career. I would always try to network if you can. But remember, there’s a pandemic going on so be careful!
