Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlos Pizarro.
Hi Carlos, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
A friend of mine was going to film school and told me I should seriously consider buying a camera and starting to film. He said my creativity would help me create great projects and thought I would even be better at it than him. I gave it some consideration but didn’t get into it until someone else told me the exact same thing. At that point, I felt like I was receiving a message or being lead in that direction so I bought a camera and fell in love with it ever since.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Along the way, there was a lot of difficulties because it takes practice and perseverance and there’s always going to be a learning curve when you try something new. Above all being yourself and finding your voice eliminates most challenges in terms of competing or comparing.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a film director/writer and I most recently finished my second movie which is a sci-fi project entitled INTUIT. I don’t think I’m known for one specific genre because I love so many from comedy to thrillers. I’m proud of every project I finished because of all the hard work and effort that goes into creating something special. I think my creativity and my love for storytelling is what sets me apart from others.
What matters most to you? Why?
I think seeing minorities in positions of power and roles that don’t stereotype them matters to me most. The reason I say that is because we have so much more to offer in terms of cinema and artistry. In my new project INTUIT the lead is a young black woman with natural features and I really wanted to see someone like her grace the stage and be unapologetically beautiful as well as smart and talented.
