Today we’d like to introduce you to Catherine Beaty| Digital Content Creator of TheBargainholic.
Hi Catherine, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Over the years, I have always received questions about clothing and other pieces that I have purchased. The first question someone always asks is “How much did it cost”, and they are always surprised by my response. I am a firm believer that you don’t have to spend a ton of money for quality items. Sometimes you just need to know the techniques to find the best deals. I absolutely LOVE shopping. It’s a passion of mine, but the biggest thing I enjoy about it is when I am able to find bargains. So I thought, maybe, this is the knowledge I can provide to others so I’ve created a business to share it and hopefully inspire others.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting a business is not easy, especially when you have to balance it with caring for a small child, being an entrepreneur, and a wife. Building a successful brand is hard work and it requires a huge investment. As far as YouTube’ing, blogging, and posting on social media, the biggest challenge is creating things that people find enjoyable and relatable. Sometimes it works and other times it doesn’t, so having a strong mental fortitude is absolutely necessary; you have to keep moving forward.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a bargain shopping specialist. I share details on how to save money, whether that’s shopping for makeup, clothes, or home decor. With what is going on in today’s world financially, my techniques can help cut some of the spending and help promote a more affordable lifestyle. I have seen people overspend on everything. I feel I can show them the correct way to shop for nonessentials.
The most exciting part about my job is showing people that thrift shopping is not the only way to shop affordably. Bargain shopping can be done anywhere and everywhere. There are no limits. You can find great deals in discount stores such as Marshall’s, Ross, and TJ Maxx as well as in high-end department stores such as Macy’s and Nordstorm.
How do you define success?
It literally gives me joy anytime I can bring awareness to someone’s shopping habits that allow them to save money.
