Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Carmona.
Hi Christina, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Entertainment was always a part of my life so it’s interesting to think about where it started. I would definitely say high school was when I knew for sure that this field was where I wanted to be, where I wanted to focus my career. I was a part of the school news team as the entertainment reporter and soon after moved onto anchor. Shooting footage and editing it all together to create a dynamic and interesting story got me hooked. I was also in drama, so my love of acting and the stage was definitely grew there. Fast forward, years later I moved to Orlando, FL worked for Disney in their entertainment department as a performer, then Universal, and SeaWorld after. During my time at Universal, I became an entertainment events production coordinator and helped open up amazing attractions such as Diagon Alley & Reign of Kong. I also helped with shows like The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, The Today Show, and the Tonight Show. I currently co-own and operate film company Bad Kitty Films LLC.., host and co-produce Orlando’s number 1 local entertainment T.V. show, Indie Cinema Showcase, have taken the mantle as co-city producer of The 48 Hour Film Project Orlando. When I’m not there, you can catch me at Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament portraying the role of “The Queen”. It’s a lot for sure and definitely a lot of hard work, but I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for the absolute love of the entertainment industry as a whole that was just always in me.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Oh my goodness no, the entertainment industry–as a matter of fact ANY industry has its bumps, it’s just about how you get through that that counts. As actors, I think the biggest struggles are always landing the part, getting the gigs, and signing with agents. A lot of people see the glitz and glam of it all but never really think about the rejections, acting classes, last minute line memorizations, and the no sleep that can happen from jumping from gig to gig. In the end, it’s about sticking with it, learning, and growing because those bumps in the road are just that, bumps.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am currently an actress/filmmaker/television host/city producer. When it comes to the filmmaking process, I take on the role of writer and director. I would say what tends to stick with people is my film company Bad Kitty Films L.L.C, so some people call me Bad Kitty lol. However, people do very much associate me with my role at Medieval Times as Queen. It’s really hard to name what I am most proud of because really I am proud of every project I’ve worked on for different reasons. One of my favorite projects that hits close to home is the short documentary I did about my dad for film school called “Lasting Memory” where he opened up about PTSD and his time in the Vietnam war. What sets me apart from others is the fact that I can take on many roles. I am very well versed in the industry from in front of the camera, behind the camera, to putting together major events. Knowing a lot about your field of work can only make you better at what you do and a great asset for any team or production you’re a part of.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory would probably be when I used to pretend I was a T.V. Show host and cast the children my mom used to sit as “guests” on my “show”. I think this is one of the many reasons why my parents and siblings were never surprised when I decided to get into this field! LOL!
