Rising Stars: Meet Christopher Roblész

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Roblész.

Christopher Roblész

Hi Christopher, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Certainly! My journey in education has been a rich tapestry of experiences, all woven together by my unwavering passion for mathematics and a deep commitment to ensuring every scholar has access to quality math education. It all began back in 2009 when I embarked on my career as a Math Interventionist at Achievement First Bushwick Middle School in NYC. From there, I traversed along the East Coast, leaving my mark in District of Columbia Public Schools, Miami Dade Public Schools, and eventually, The SEED School of Miami.

Each stop along the way provided me with invaluable insights into the challenges and opportunities within the education system. Whether it was supporting math curriculum development or leading efforts to improve student achievement, I was driven by a singular goal: to empower scholars to excel in mathematics and debunk the myth that scholars and guardians had “I’m not a math person.”

In June of 2020, amidst the challenges posed by the pandemic, I founded Math N’ More with a clear vision: to provide scholars, families, and schools with the necessary support and resources to navigate the often-daunting world of mathematics. Serving as the Chief Executive & Educational Officer, and sole instructor of Math N’ More, I have dedicated myself to not only tutoring scholars but also providing coaching and feedback to schools and families.

It hasn’t been an easy journey, particularly with the disruptions caused by COVID-19 and the uphill battle of convincing parents of the value of proactive academic support. However, my determination remains steadfast. I firmly believe that through Math N’ More, we can create a pathway to success for scholars, instilling confidence in their mathematical abilities, supporting educators in their instructional delivery, and providing parents with the assurance that their children’s educational needs are being met.

In essence, my story is one of resilience, dedication, and a relentless pursuit of excellence in education. And while the road may have its challenges, I am fueled by the profound impact we can make on the lives of scholars and communities through quality math education.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Absolutely NOT! The work I do and of many educators is not for the faint of heart. Building Math N’ More has been far from smooth. Math N’ More has encountered our fair share of challenges and obstacles along the way.

One of the most significant hurdles has been navigating the landscape of education amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The shift to virtual learning posed unique challenges in reaching and engaging with scholars and families. It has been difficult to effectively market our services and convey the value of proactive academic support in a virtual environment.

Additionally, a fundamental challenge has been convincing parents, particularly those from minority, low-income, and underrepresented groups, of the importance of proactive academic support. All too often, parents may not see the value until it’s too late, and scholars are already struggling academically. Overcoming this barrier requires proactive outreach, building trust within the community, and demonstrating tangible results that resonate with parents’ aspirations for their children. Which is also a challenge for funding, my desire to support families in underserved areas requires a significant investment in capital both human and monetary. The focus on providing resources and support to help students succeed, regardless of their background, is a sword I intend to lean on. I believe that every child should be given the same opportunity to succeed, and I am passionate about creating a level playing field.

Despite these challenges, our commitment to our mission remains unwavering. We are continuously adapting and evolving our approach to meet the needs of scholars and families in these unprecedented times. Through perseverance, creativity, and a steadfast dedication to our vision, we press onward, knowing that the impact we can make on the lives of scholars is worth every obstacle encountered along the way.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
At Math N’ More, our primary focus is on providing comprehensive math education support to scholars, families, and schools. We specialize in personalized high impact tutoring services tailored to meet the unique needs of each scholar, ensuring they receive individualized instruction based on their current academic work, we even endorsed by Stanford University’s National Student Support Accelerator Program.

Our approach goes beyond traditional tutoring by offering wraparound services that support scholars both inside and outside of tutoring sessions. We provide families with feedback, tools, and techniques to reinforce learning at home, empowering them to play an active role in their child’s education journey. Additionally, we offer coaching and feedback to schools, helping educators enhance their instructional delivery and support scholars in the classroom.

One aspect of our work that I’m particularly proud of is our commitment to equitable access to math education. We prioritize serving minority, low-income, and underrepresented groups, ensuring that all scholars have the opportunity to excel academically regardless of their background. This dedication is reflected in our pricing structure, with options available to accommodate various financial circumstances.

What sets us apart from others in the field is our holistic approach to math education. We don’t just focus on drill and practice or test preparation; we aim to support scholars in achieving their long-term educational goals while also addressing their immediate academic needs. Our track record of success speaks for itself, with notable achievements such as nearly doubling the pass rate on the Algebra 1 End-of-Course Exam, the first graduation requirement for high school scholars at The SEED School of Miami under my leadership.

Overall, I’m most proud of the impact we’ve been able to make in the lives of scholars and communities through our work at Math N’ More. By providing high-impact, quality math education support and empowering scholars to succeed, we are helping to build a brighter future for generations to come.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is ensuring that every scholar has equitable access to quality education and the opportunity to live out a choice-filled life, not a life in which I have to do this. This mission is deeply personal to me, rooted in my own experiences as an educator and a lifelong learner.

Having witnessed firsthand the transformative power of education, I am passionate about creating pathways to success for all scholars, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds. I believe that education is the great equalizer, capable of breaking down barriers and opening doors to opportunity.

By prioritizing equity, inclusivity, and excellence in education, we can empower scholars to overcome obstacles, pursue their passions, and make meaningful contributions to society. Ultimately, my driving force is the belief that every child deserves access to the tools, resources, and support they need to thrive academically and beyond.
