Hi Claudia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hey there! Thank you so much. I am a true-to-color wedding videographer based out of Woodstock, Georgia. I serve the most amazing couples all around Georgia and even South Carolina. When I was a junior in high school, I was accidentally placed in a videography class as one of my art electives. I had made an appointment with my guidance counselor to switch me to a pottery class but after a few lectures, I realized how much I was enjoying videography. I ended up being asked by the teacher to move into the advanced class and it was love at first sight! I started filming every single day. Whether it was home videos or for school projects, I pretty much always had a camera in my hand. Fast forward to my 3rd year at The University of Georgia. I am currently in the Terry College of Business pursuing a Business marketing and administration degree. For class credit needed to graduate, I was required to find an internship for the summer. I was applying all over the place and really was not excited about any of the jobs, at all. One day, I was lounging at home with my friends watching Youtube videos when up popped a wedding video for influencers I had followed for years.
As I was watching it, I felt every emotion possible. It was like I was right there with them on their wedding day. I knew in an instant that was something I wanted to be a part of. I then started reaching out to a lot of local wedding videographers from my home town, and found myself with a wedding videography internship for the summer! Every wedding that I attended with them was a dream come true. I was filming couples on the happiest day of their lives and learned so much from my mentor. It was through that internship that I developed a true passion for story telling through film. My very first wedding was for a family friend, and then Claudia Goodwin Films took off from there. I had to put myself out there and look for potential clients and it honestly was a struggle for a while. But as I gained experience, my quality increased. Through the power of word of mouth and referrals, I now find myself very busy and constantly receiving inquires! I have launched my own website and I am active on social media. I truly feel like I am living the dream!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Claudia Goodwin Films has luckily had a great journey with relatively no bumps in the way. I would say the biggest challenge is just owning a business in general. There are so many hats that you need to wear, and navigating that road will forever be a bit of a challenge. For example, each and every day, there are new trends to follow on social media. Keeping up with social media content in itself is quite the job, and then having to stay on top of trends and the various platforms that pop up all the time can be a bit of a challenge as well. However, when I am active on social media, I notice the traffic to my website and the amount of inquiries I receive skyrocket. Every challenge just ensures I never get bored! It really is exciting each and every day.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a true to color wedding videographer and portrait photographer located in Atlanta. Georgia. I strive to create story-driven films that are unique to each and every couple. I love the luxurious light and airy style, this is something that truly sets me apart from a lot of the more dark and moody videographers. I put my heart and soul into each and every film that I create as if I am filming for my bestest friend. One of my favorite compliments from past client’s that I receive is that they feel like I am a part of their bridal party, it never feels like they have a big camera in their face and that helps them feel extremely comfortable and natural! I pride myself on the time and attention I put into each and every client long before their wedding day, this is because it helps me get to know them and therefore, create a wedding film that is truly them.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
This career has made me appreciate the fact that as time passes, memories fade. In your wedding film, you can listen to the voices and laughs of your loved ones, see your fiancé’s eyes light up as you walk down the aisle, and feel the energy as you dance the night away. A video is the only medium that will allow you to truly relive those moments time and time again.
