Today we’d like to introduce you to Coach Kb.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m “Coach Kb’ Starks, and Ready to Live Soap Therapy started as a lifeline. After a long season of unemployment and deep depression, I discovered something surprising: the simple, sensory act of making soap helped me calm my mind, reconnect with joy, and start healing. What began as a personal practice soon became a passion and then a purpose. I realized this hands-on, creative ritual could help others who carry stress, grief, or stigma about seeking help.
I turned that discovery into Ready to Live Soap Therapy, a creative wellness company that blends soap making, mindset coaching, and guided sensory experiences into what I trademarked as Soap Therapy™. We run in studio and mobile experiences, create at home kits, and design corporate and community sessions that use scent, touch, and storytelling to help people release, reset, and rebuild. Our offerings include Soaps of Affirmation, DIY Honey Turmeric body care kits, Date Night and VIP events, and private or group therapy sessions that are part craft and part coaching.
Growth came through connections and persistence. Small local workshops led to corporate wellness bookings, partnerships with colleges and nonprofits including work with Spelman’s Early College program, media features, grant wins, and most importantly real transformations from participants across Black and Brown communities, veterans, young adults, and stressed professionals. We now have a physical storefront on Peter Street in Atlanta, a growing roster of corporate clients, and a production capacity that supports both in studio events and shipped kits.
My north star is simple: make mental wellness approachable, creative, and community centered. Soap making is the entry point, but the real work is the conversation, the mindset shift, and the dignity we restore for people who don’t see traditional therapy as an option. I built Ready to Live Soap Therapy to heal myself, and now I’m building it to heal communities, one bar at a time.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Like many entrepreneurs, my journey has been filled with challenges that tested my faith and resilience. One of the biggest struggles was starting Ready to Live Soap Therapy while I was still navigating my own healing. Building a business out of something so personal meant I had to be vulnerable, and at times that was uncomfortable.
Financial hurdles have also been real. There were moments when resources were limited, and I had to get creative to keep the vision alive. Grants and pitch competitions helped, but every dollar had to stretch, especially in those early stages.
I also faced the challenge of introducing something new and unfamiliar. Soap Therapy™ is not traditional, so explaining it to people, breaking down the science behind creativity and healing, and convincing organizations to try it took persistence. There were “no’s” before there were “yes’s.”
Through all of it, I leaned on my faith, my family, and my belief that this work is bigger than me. Every obstacle pushed me to refine the mission and stay committed. Looking back, those struggles became the foundation for the strength and clarity I now carry as a founder and healer.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At Ready to Live Soap Therapy, I specialize in transforming the simple act of soap making into a powerful tool for mental wellness. I created and trademarked Soap Therapy™, a science-backed process that blends sensory play, creativity, and mindset coaching to help people release stress, reset their energy, and rebuild confidence.
We’re known for creating safe, judgment-free spaces where people can unplug and heal through hands-on experiences. From our Soap of Affirmation line and DIY Honey Turmeric Body Wash kits to our corporate wellness sessions and Date Night Soap Therapy experiences, everything we do is rooted in the belief that creativity is medicine.
What I’m most proud of is watching lives transform in real time. I’ve seen a stressed-out professional leave a session smiling for the first time in weeks. I’ve watched young adults build confidence, veterans find peace, and women rediscover their voice. Knowing that Ready to Live Soap Therapy has given people hope where they thought they had none keeps me going.
What sets us apart is that we don’t look or feel like traditional therapy. We make healing approachable, fun, and deeply personal. Our sessions combine the science of hormone release with the art of creativity, making mental wellness something people actually look forward to. At the core, we’re not just making soap — we’re creating moments of freedom, joy, and healing, one bar at a time.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was always full of energy with a big personality, and I naturally gravitated toward helping people. I loved connecting with others and making them smile. In fact, when I was in 7th grade, there was a girl named Katie with Down syndrome. Instead of going to PE, I would often choose to visit her and spend time playing together, because her joy brought me so much joy in return. That’s really been a theme throughout my whole life, finding happiness in lifting others up, being a source of encouragement, and using my energy to make people feel seen and cared for.
