Rising Stars: Meet Corwin Evans of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Corwin Evans.

Hi Corwin , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
So Actors Link Up actually started in the living room back in 2019 when I first moved down to Atlanta from North Carolina. I felt the need for a tribe here and it was a very important missing piece of community that I longed for. My partner Jason Bobbitt and I started after I went to him with an idea of having this family oriented tribe in a home away from home. After staying true to the process and building relationships here, we can now say we have a successful business built on God’s work here in Atlanta called Actors Link Up. Actors Link Up is a social hub where film industry creatives and artists converge to forge meaningful connections, bridge gaps, and share knowledge and tips for continued success in their respective fields. We foster a spirit of collaboration within the industry, celebrating the achievements of individuals whose dreams are soaring in their crafts. Everyone should join us and be apart of the giveback that propels aspiring talents forward!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road but actually a very challenging one. With no family and friends here, we started from ground zero. With no major film credits, we had to build on what we had and sacrifice money we didn’t have to start a business that required money. We did the first 8 months free of charge to the Atlanta film community. We started by paying for the venue and flyers and DJs and food and drinks. We really just wanted to be around common good folks who had the same vision and believed in it like we did.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
So I’m an actor with a BA in theatre from North Carolina Central University. I also produced my first film a few years ago. My debut television performance was in P-Valley season 1. I’m most proud of working alongside of one of my closest friends J. Alphonse Nicholson who plays Lil Murda on the show. We had talks and dreams of this back in college and how we would make it no matter what. What’s sets me apart from others is my sheer ambition and determination to win all while being resilient and refusing to give up or lose.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My advice to those starting out would be to make sure this is something you actually love and have to do, meaning you can live without it. This should be something that you can do for free without pay and recognition. Acting requires having a typical job to support this career and not many can’t break into and not have to work a typical job. Acting gets ugly. I’ve been pursuing this since 2006 and still pursing to this day. Don’t chase fame and fortune because it doesn’t come easy.
