Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Lee.
Hi Courtney , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Cocoa Cosas was born from my love of collecting meaningful souvenirs. I’ve never been a “trinket” person, so whenever I traveled, I’d look for something with character; usually a unique piece of clothing from a local consignment shop. On one trip, when I couldn’t find anything I loved, I wandered into a nearby antique store. I was instantly drawn to the stories, craftsmanship, and charm behind each piece.
From that moment, antiques became my souvenirs. Over time, my personal collection grew, and I realized I wanted to share these beautiful finds with others. That’s how Cocoa Cosas came to life; rooted in travel, discovery, and the joy of finding pieces that feel like treasures.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of my biggest challenges has been working with glass; it’s beautiful, but incredibly delicate. While Cocoa Cosas isn’t exclusively glassware, most of my collection leans that way because that’s what I naturally gravitate toward when I’m sourcing.
Shipping and traveling with glass is a whole experience on its own. Many of the pieces I find are rare, so every time I pack them, I’m anxious about something breaking and losing a piece I may never come across again.
Traveling with Cosas for events adds another layer of stress. If a box of clothes drops, it’s fine; but if a box of glass drops, everything inside is gone. It’s a constant balance of careful planning, patience, and accepting that accidents happen, even when you do everything right.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
In my corporate life, I work in finance and accounting, which has played a huge role in shaping how I run my business. It taught me how to think strategically, stay organized, and lead with intention; skills that helped me turn a personal hobby into a business.
Outside of finance, I also manage Shoe Slutz, a brand that sells niche vintage designer shoes. I love this work because it naturally aligns with my personality and interests; I’ve always been drawn to unique, quirky, one-of-a-kind pieces. Working with Shoe Slutz pushes me creatively and expands my sense of style in ways that also influence Cocoa Cosas.
What I’m most proud of is the balance I’ve built between my corporate career and my creative ventures. What sets me apart is my ability to blend structure with creativity; bringing a business mindset to artistic projects, and a playful, curated eye to everything I create and manage.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
The biggest way people can support Cocoa Cosas is simply by sharing it with others. Almost everyone uses glassware in their daily life, so introducing friends, family, and clients to Cocoa Cosas helps the brand reach homes where these Cosas can truly shine.
I also love collaborating on events; whether it’s a dinner party, brand activation, or creative experience that needs unique glassware or styling. Keeping Cocoa Cosas in mind for event rentals, shoots, or partnerships is an incredible way to work together. I’ve been lucky to collaborate with amazing experiences like Insatiable Table, Beats & Ballads, SoMixxy, A Mindful Mixer and Vin Wine Parties, and their support has truly helped the brand grow.
I’m always open to new ideas and creative partnerships, so if someone wants to collaborate or bring something special to their next event, I’m just a message away.
