Today we’d like to introduce you to Cricket Mccaskill aka 1BAD AZZ DRUMMER aka BOAT (Baddest Of All Time).
Hi Cricket, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was the founder,, drummer and manager of 4BAD AZZ MUSICIANz which was a band I assembled from musicians from previous bands I played for. . We started out as the Friday night house band at HAMS SPORTS BAR & GRILL in Shelby North Carolina. As our popularity began to grow in surrounding areas, I added singers and dancers which led to us catching the attention of promoters, club, lounge and bar owners, managers of celebrities and event planners which led to bigger opportunities and eventually being featured in a Grammy nominated video (Calvin Richardson Woman’s Got To Have It). Even though we were getting booked, we also missed out on some life changing opportunities because of poor work ethic and lack of passion from some not all members. I had numerous musicians of all instruments and singer come and go during my band years. To sum it all up, I eventually got frustrated with trying to motivate so many people to acknowledge how great they truly were and to see the opportunities that others wish they had. I finally realized if I wanted to get to the next level of entertainment I would have to move on and not look back so I went from 4BAD AZZ MUSICIANz/1BAD AZZ FAMILY to who I am today 1BAD AZZ DRUMMER. I then took a big leap of faith and moved to Atlanta to start a new life and pursue my career in entertainment. I would go to events and ask to set up and perform with the DJ and different acts if there were any. So many accomplishments have happened for me since I moved to Atlanta but not just here. I’ve had success in Miami , New York and other major cities just from my reputation of professionalism and passion. Iv been featured in over 50 music videos with well known celebrities with my drums literally on fire while playing them, TV Shows, commercials, movies, countless interviews, school tours for antibullying , motivational speaking, several awards including ATLs HOTTEST MUSICIAN back to back awards 2024 and 2025, my own show titled 1BAD AZZ SHOW that takes place at the historic landmark ATRIUM in Stone Mountain, Georgia every 3RD Friday and my favorite of it all, my brand 1BWORLD which was created from my hand written autograph 1B which means 1BAD. 1BWORLD means 1BAD AZZ WAY OF REALIZING LOVE DOMINATES meaning no one or anything can stop YAHWEY/GOD purpose for your life. 1B has unlimited meanings. For me 1B means 1BAD AZZ DRUMMER but it could mean something totally different for someone else who wears 1B. .
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at al, I’ve definitely had some disappointing moments from tour cancellations, dealing with different personalities and people who don’t appreciate my time, honor my worth and most of all unappreciative of my loyalty. I use it all as learning lessons and fuel to keep going.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I always tell people I’m way more than a drummer. I’m a brand, an entertainer, entrepreneur, humanitarian, producer, instructor, actor, promoter, event planner, advocate for mental health and more. I’ve acknowledged my gift of bringing people together and changing people’s lives or at least being the spark of their transitions. I’m most proud of my brand 1BWORLDLLC that’’s going to be WORLDWIDE and my accomplishments as 1BAD AZZ DRUMMER because I actually was told and talked about saying that no one was going to perform with just a drummer and track. Ever since I’ve come to Atlanta 2012. I’ve performed with over 100 known celebrities (Not just Atlanta celebrities) and celebrity groups and my personal estimation of at least 1000+ artists from different events and shows I’ve been featured on. As far as your question of what makes me stand out; I truly believe there’s no debate that setting my drums on fire indoors and outdoors anywhere, anytime is what makes me stand out from others.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I see 1BWORLDLLC being worn by millions to billions of BAD AZZES around the world all ages, all races. I see my message of what 1B WORLD is all about will be spread WORLDWIDE. I see me doing albums and tours of 1BAD AZZ SHOW and with different artists. I want to create programs to help the less fortunate and homeless. I feel no one on earth should ever be hungry, cold, hot or denied healthcare because of their financial status. I also want to continue to teach Bad AZZ Drum Lessonz to people of all walks of life and ages and open up several businesses I prefer not to say but show once they are in action.
