Today we’d like to introduce you to Cristian Mancia.
Hi Cristian, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
A kid born and raised by two immigrant parents looking for a better life. Born in Hempstead, Long Island, NY. Growing up playing instruments such as drums, violin, & guitar, I fell in love with Djaying at a family event where my uncle was the Dj. At the age of nine, I started to learn how to dj using old-school vinyls. By the time I hit high school, I started Djaying school dances and events. Worked my way into hosting teen bashes at lounges and djaying them as well. Ended up djaying my first club at the age of 15. That’s when the beginning of DjGhost career took off. Started Djaying and local clubs and bars and slowly expanding all over the island. Caught my first official break Djaying in the boroughs when I performed in one of the best-known clubs in New York called La Boom. As my resume started to get filled with many known clubs, I was able to then have my name under a radio station called “La Fiesta 98.5FM”. In 2021 one of my biggest dreams came true, I became part of a worldwide DJ organization called LMP (Lo Maximo Productions). Hitting a milestone that took hard work and dedication to get. Also traveling nationwide to Dj in other states became a big part of my career. States like Texas, Colorado, California, and Florida. These are just milestones I’ve accomplished but I’m not done yet. I’m only getting started and I’m still pushing to exceed my limits and reach new goals.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s never a smooth road when you’re in the music industry. It’s very difficult to stand out. In the DJ industry, there’s new DJs every day. My job was to stand out and make my craft into a wow factor. In the beginning of my career, I’ve taken many L’s. Started off doing free gigs just to get my name out. Getting paid the lowest possible to have a full calendar. It’s never an easy road but you do take a lot of sacrifices. Every gig I gave it my all; my craft is my passion. Lost many friends due to this. I never gave up and until this day, I won’t give up.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a professional disk jockey also known as a Dj. My job is to make sure you have the best time of your life while hearing all of your favorite artists and songs. My job is to make sure you’re enjoying yourself at the clubs. I’m more into the Latin side of the industry. I’ve had the opportunity to actually kick it back with a few artists I grew up listening to. I am an open format Dj, which means I don’t only specialize in Latin music, I can also specialize in reggae, hiphop, soca & much more. Something I’m proud of is the journey I’ve taken to get where I’m at now. I reminisce from when I first started and can’t help but smile of the accomplishments I have done. Overall from my journey two things that separate me from the rest, I’m humble, & I’m always a helping hand. I’ve helped many Djs start their crafts from teaching them basics to even sending them folders of music. I’m that dj that loves to help and give a hand when needed. Many DJs from the area aren’t giving helping hands nor humble. My job is to change that perspective of the Dj title and also help represent Long Island.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
One of my favorite childhood memory was the family parties we used to have. When my uncle would Dj and I would stare at everyone’s face while they’re dancing, I would see how much fun everyone is having just by listening to music. That’s when I fell in love with Djaying. Everyone is dancing smiling and having a great time is an image I can always picture when I close my eyes.
