Today we’d like to introduce you to Cyrus Waid.
Hi Cyrus, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born February 6 1998 on the northside of Atlanta Georgia. My adoption was arranged 2 days before I was born and I was given to an incredibly loving, God centered family and was raised about an hour and a half up I-75 in Rome and Calhoun Georgia. My parents made sure I was in church every week singing in the choir and my momma put me in piano lessons at an early age which sparked my love for music. My momma’s the reason I am the artist I am today no doubt about it.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Pursuing a music career always has its ups and downs. There’s been times where it feels easy and times that I’ve doubted myself. There’s definitely a continuous mental battle that takes place and you have to overcome yourself in a way. The only person that can keep you from being successful in this industry is the person in the mirror so it’s all about getting better everyday and trusting where that will lead u.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I do a little bit of everything to stay a float. I’ve detailed cars for many years in Atlanta on 14th street. I’ve worked in just about every restaurant and steak house throughout buckhead and midtown. I’ve done some other stuff that wasn’t necessarily legal but helped me pay my rent a few times. I’ve worked with some big names in the industry and I’ve helped ppl who are less seasoned artists find their sound. My work consists of what ever will move me closer to my over all goal for that day. If I’m bussing tables at a restaurant cool, if I’m doing a feature for your favorite rapper woopty-doo, either way I’m gonna get to work.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My father made sure I was a working man by the age of 4 lol whenever we had a project outside he made sure I had my boots in the mud working right along side him. Something that I didn’t enjoy as a kid has turned into my fondest memory. Just being able to dig holes in the dirt with my dad.
