Hi Dab, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Coming up in Alabama there wasn’t a lot of programs or options for young creatives. I connected with others who had a passion for music also anyone at all whether it be producers, singers, writers, radio people, absolutely anyone I could find. I practiced my craft and shared my skills with the community I built in Alabama, realizing that if I wanted to get to the next level, I had to move to a bigger city like ATL. I ended up in Stone Mountain, Decatur, and Lithonia basically where there was no shortage of peers for me to connect with and create. Years of hustling hard work and networking led me to getting placements and a songwriter. Since then, I’ve won a grammy and worked with artists such as Beyonce and Lucky Daye just to name a couple.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been a very rocky road. Not only is it hard starting out and getting that first placement, as a writer it’s not easy getting paid a liveable wage no matter whom your working with. Everything from evictions to shady managers have riddled my path, but along the way I’ve gained priceless knowledge. I had a million reasons to give up but instead, I continued to push forward. The universe will definitely reward you for not turning back on your true gift.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a music producer, artist and writer. I am happy that through music and film, I’ve been able to reach and inspire so many minds. I’m an advocate for cutting-edge creativity and community. Sharing my voice and thoughts at such a high level makes me feel proud and also responsible. I’m excited to bring everyone into my world of music, film and next-level interaction.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
The fact that I am highly creative and my ability to bring people together are definitely the key factors of my success
