Rising Stars: Meet Deneice M

Today we’d like to introduce you to Deneice M.

Deneice, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
On the denmtravels blog, I talk about when the blog and denmtravels started, during the 2020 “shut down”. But I definitely want to give thanks for this opportunity to share the story on this platform. It is greatly appreciated and an honor! For years I had friends telling me to start a travel blog with all the places I’d visited and be a travel guide of sorts. I was never really interested.

To be honest, I didn’t think I had the time. Travel was just my favourite hobby and my passion was my career in-store displays. And I was quite content.

In 2019 after many inquiries, I decided to start figuring out how to structure and share my travels, especially for those who were interested in the local areas I’d visit.

In 2020 it kinda didn’t make much sense anymore as no one was traveling.

However, travel for me is more than just to show off pictures of being out in some foreign country at some elaborately over expensive hotel.

Travel for me is the privileged experience of indulging all my senses in something meaningful and new. And not necessarily having to go very far to do so if you really don’t want to.

For example, just in the state of Georgia alone, you’re able to feel the sprays from a waterfall, hear the calming run of a river, smell the sea salty ocean air, see different flora, taste different foods from the different cultures mixed with that southern flair…

Well, after all that has happened over the last few years, denmtravels relaunched Spring 2022 with the focus and mission of making more of an impact in the community. Highlighting some of the maybe not so popular spaces and businesses.

For starters, if you’re not familiar with the “A” definitely visit the blog to learn about islands a few hours away, waterfalls you can make a day trip out of. And the latest, the Beltline, where there is an amazing opportunity to be outdoors, get that fresh air and free vitamin D, check out some local artwork and support local small businesses.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I guess the biggest challenge was the initial emotions that set in at the beginning of 2020; sadness, fear, depression and dealing with it alone. From the “shut down” to my cousin’s passing. That was definitely a hard hit. Then really working on self and remembering teachings from my upbringing. Reevaluating, refocusing, and restructuring thoughts and in turn my life.

I’d love and will always love visuals, and now with this additional focus, I intend to continue to prioritize making a difference in communities when I travel. Especially after seeing how people had their livelihood shaken up.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Travel Content Creator for denmtravels, documenting and creating visual elements to increase awareness of local communities and highlighting the free health benefits of being outdoors in nature. denmtravels is an inspirational and promotional platform, connecting travelers with local spaces and small businesses, whether traveling out of town, out of state, or out of the country.

Design packages are available for businesses, and planning assistance is available for the travelers.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Finding a mentor, I’d say if you can’t afford one, start with online social media entrepreneur influencers like Gary Vee, Ralph Smart, Sadghuru… Find what speaks to you and what you think you need more assistance with first as opposed to becoming overwhelmed with all that is out there.
