Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Sherry Couch
Hi Dr. Sherry, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born in Chester, PA, At age 9 my entire family on both sides moved to Atlanta, GA. I matriculated through school in Atlanta graduating in 1985 from Westwood High School, now Westlake High School and also being a Triple Alum from Clark Atlanta University graduating with a B.A., M.A., and EdD. My grandparents and parents all were entrepreneur and I too have that in my blood. I opened my first business in 4th Grade when I use to sell candy to my classmates until I was sent to the Principal’s office!
After graduating college I opened two businesses, one for profit and a non profit, which areas were my two loves while growing up; dancing and pageants! I began the Sparkling Foundation, Inc with my mother where we began the Miss Black Teen Atlanta and Miss Black Atlanta Scholarship Pageants, awarding over $250,000 in scholarships. We ran the pageants from 1990-1999. Under this same umbrella I ran a Drill Team, Flag Corp, and Majorette Camp for the local Atlanta High Schools and Middle Schools. I loved competing in pageants, winning Miss Black Teen Georgia in 1983 and going on to compete for Miss Black Teen USA where I placed 6th.
After receiving my B.A. in Business Management, I decided to go back to school to receive an education degree and that was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I LOVE TEACHING! I have been recognized and awarded internationally and nationally for my teaching skills receiving awards and recognition from the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Atlanta Braves, The National Council of Negro Women, and I was recognized at the National Education Breakfast held at the White House when I became a National Board Certified Teacher and the youngest to sit on the National Board of Directors for the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards led by Georgia’s Governor Roy Barnes. I was also a Fulbright Scholar where I represented the U.S. in Japan teaching their educator’s western teaching skills.
In the midst of teaching, my principal, Dr. Leviticus Roberts introduced me to real estate. Dr. Roberts was like a father figure to me as I was one of the three youngest teachers on his staff at that time. I loved real estate so much that I became a real estate agent, broker, and instructor in four states and learned the Dubai real estate market.
In 2013 I walked away from public school teaching and opened my own school for students who were home schooled. I also opened my own real estate firm. I was in education and real estate heaven! In 2023 I decided to retire from everything. That didn’t last long as I became status corrected and I opened up another school teaching many how to live free and in the private. This school is affectionately called New Status New Life Nation! I also began Land and Soil Property Group where I teach those who are status corrected how to receive allodial title on their land and property.
Life has taken me down many paths and one path I cherish the most beyond everything in life is being a mother. To be one, you have to know one and I have the BEST MOTHER IN THE WORLD! I know many feel that way, but God truly blessed me with the most supportive and sweetest mother ever. She is my heart. I really believe that’s why I so enjoy being a mother to four beautiful daughters, Brandi, Brooke, Bria and Brishe’ and a MeMa to four grand babies, Taj, Ty, Tori, and Taylor. I was married twice and this part of life just hasn’t worked out well for me, but I did share with my first husband not to long ago that, “We may not have survived our marriage, but we surely have some bad to the bone children!” All of my children are successful in their own careers and lives. My father, older brother, and all grandparents have passed on, but I know they are all looking down on me and saying, “You are making us proud!”
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No it has not been a smooth road, but all struggles have been well worth it! I believe with EACH struggle it truly made me stronger. When I fell, I learned to take a minute, figure out why I fell, and try to never make that SAME mistake again. Out of all of my struggles, the most painful for me has been betrayal. I have had serious betrayals in my life that have been mentally paralyzing for me because I never would or did believe people really can be cruel. I was brutally lied on in court papers and an attorney and judge allowed the lie and capitalized off of it. I am dealing with this situation now and I have been provided great assistance, but it still did not stop the pain of being victim to the evilness of man. The saying, “what doesn’t kill you will make you stronger” is so true!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I left working for a corporate entity in 2013 when I worked for the school system. From 2013 forward I was blessed to work for myself opening my own middle school, real estate firm and real estate school I decided I was done and wanted to just relax. That didn’t last long because I got so intrigue with becoming status corrected and living the “private life”, I opened a school called New Status New Life Nation teaching others how to truly live free from corporate interference. In the midst of this I fell in love with Social Media, building my platforms to over 100,000 subscribers and over 20 million views. I have had several viral videos but the one with the most traction hit over 15 million views by itself! This video depicted my friendship with my bestie of over 4o years. We were invited to New York to appear of NBC’s TODAY with Jenna and Friends!
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Hands down my mother and my children! Many of my decisions I have made have been with them being in the forefront of my mind, My grand babies give me the desire to just love on them, spoil them and have fun in life! I would also like to recognize my besties who have been there when I was at my lowest and they still showed me unconditional love!
