Rising Stars: Meet EasyLife of Athens, GA

Today we’d like to introduce you to EasyLife.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Well, My name is EasyLife (one word). Im originally from Cleveland, Oh. I am an Artist, producer, and songwriter. The inception of EasyLife was around the winter of 05. I want to say it was a few days after Christmas, I went over to my cousin Ksure216 house to play the new wrestling game. So I get there and we all showing off our new stuff and his little sister ended up getting a barbie phone and it came with a voice mail machine where you could record for like 30 seconds. Long story short, I’m pretty sure we didn’t play the game that day. We grabbed one of his big brother’s beat cd’s ( you know the ones you could get from you corner store) and ended up freestyling. Ever since I’ve been writing, rapping, and preforming!

Fast forward to today. Since my relocation to the area. I have met some great elite local musicians allowing me to form my band ‘The Lifers”. Atlanta has allowed me to grow as an artist in so many ways. Just being surrounded by so many positive minded creative people is with in itself is a blessing!

With that being said I just would like to point out my album “Family Jewelz” is available on all music streaming platforms!

EasyLife – Family Jewlez

The question “How you got to where you are today?” is one of my favorite to answer. I’m going to give it to you raw like ODB. Blood, Sweat, and Tunnel Vision. There is going to be good days, there is going to be bad days. Either way FULL SPEED AHEAD!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
To be honest I don’t think anyone has had a smooth road. From my perspective we have all had to overcome or dealt with something that has challenged us to grow into the person we are today. Personally… Nahhh Fam! I won’t go into detail but I’ve been homeless, etc. I mean my own mother tried to stab me… It really got dark for me at one point. I would like to point at the fact that I am here today. Everything I’ve been through is just brick and mortar to the foundation. Im still here 10 toes firm and aint going no where! Niggas like me don’t die easy!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am most proud of my debut album “Family Jewlez”. Don’t get me wrong I am proud of every and any piece of art I am part of or inspired. From songwriting, coming up with content, not to mention marketing and promo plan. I overcame and learned so much in the process of creating this album. Fathering my first child and relocating to GA was really a challenge but in some way helped me focus on the message I wanted to put out.

I’m not sure if you are familiar with the term “Family Jewlels”… it refers to valuables in most cases jewelry passed down through generations of a particular family. I took that concept and ran with it. I guess in a way this album is me passing down “Family Jewelz” to the world.

What set me apart from others? I feel my music gives listeners a since of empowerment. I want people to be able to hear me and know there are not alone in the struggle and can overcome/prevail. There is untapped power and potential inside of all of us, Unfortunately, life will find anyway to distract and discourage us which is okay! At the end of the day you have to believe you are the ONE. YOU are not to be played with or taken lightly! I have learned once you believe and take yourself seriously, Everything else will fall in line!

Moral of the story: Good day or bad day…. Throw some EasyLife on!

What matters most to you?
What matters most to me….? Being a great father and being authentically me. I pride myself on being someone people can rely on. I stand on what I believe and I am unapologetically me. If I have your back it’s full speed ahead, you know it and don’t have to question it. When it is all said and done and that beautiful big woman sings. I just want to be the best authentic version of me. I hope people who feel like they lost themselves find my music and use it as a tool to remember who they are!
