Today we’d like to introduce you to Ek Gonhoe.
Hi Ek, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started off in music in church when I was 9 singing in church then I start playing instruments and that’s pretty much have brought me close to the music. No currently in a decent position in contact underground scene in Indy music.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Most definitely haven’t been a smooth road but I believe if I didn’t have that rough stage I would never be as good as I am and what I do. I have many struggles along the way far as school getting in trouble along the way , trying to stay consistent struggling School and still get better. Even down to hanging with the wrong people knowing that they didn’t have my best interest at heart. But the biggest along the road it’s been having kids and I don’t understand how to be a father learning as I go and watching but ,
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As the daily 9 to 5:00 I work as a maintenance lead. But I specialize in qualities on music and artistry. I’m proud of the ground that I’m putting myself up to , and one thing that set me apart the most artist is that I always overwork myself looking to be great and outwork everybody.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I mean sometimes your mentor comes from someone that you never met someone that generally has your best interested in mind and want to teach you what they know to help your success . Only thing I think that has worked for me is reaching out and not being afraid to network or be on the scene even when I’m not performing I’m out seeing who’s underground industry and mainstream because I feel being successful is being a student of the game in whatever you’re trying to do. And me knowing the artist that I’m around and see how to move now nobody telling me how has helped me out alot
