Rising Stars: Meet Elliot Freeman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elliot Freeman.

Hi Elliot, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Elliot Freeman. I’m a junior Communication Studies major from Austell, GA and I currently attend Morehouse College. Outside of my responsibilities as a student leader, I am a content creator as well. During the first couple of weeks of the pandemic, I started growing a strong interest in videography and graphic design, however I was not too familiar with where to begin. So, I started out by using a free editing software that I found on my computer and made a short recap video of my freshman year experience and actually received lots of good feedback on it. From then on, I gained more comfortability and knowledge of the Adobe suite through the assistance of my close friends and YouTube. After about a year, I decided to take the hobby a little more seriously and started my own business called Fun Time Media in December 2020. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to use my abilities for various internship programs, creative projects, and my beloved institution, Morehouse College, as well.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, the road has not been smooth. The interesting thing about being a “creative” is that sometimes your ideas will continue to flow so well that the content essentially produces itself; then there are other times where your mind goes completely blank and you feel like not an ounce of creativity exists in your body. One of the biggest struggles that I dealt with along the way was confidence in my ability, which caused a decrease in motivation to complete a project and led me to become more concerned with making money rather than creating just for the sake of using my imagination.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
In December 2021, I started my business Fun Time Media which is used for videography and graphic design. I’m known for producing creative content for others to enjoy such as collage graphics, BTS production content, and event recaps as well. I am most proud of my self-portrait video mini-series. I started getting bored with sitting around the house all day, so I decided to make myself the subject and found different ways to tell short stories that my friends would like. I feel like what sets me apart from other people is that I genuinely enjoy seeing other people have fun and having the understanding that you can only live through a live event once, I can give others the opportunity to relive those moments that were captured on video.

What’s next?
My plans for the future are to continue growing my personal business Fun Time Media and utilize the platform to impact the lives of many others. I’m looking forward to getting into different creative spaces that allow me to acquire more knowledge that will help me perfect my craft. My next major project goal is to get into documentary films more, so I’m looking forward to that as well.
