Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Green.
Hi Erica, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My blog was started as a creative way to express myself as well as a way to mesh all of the things that are near and dear to my heart. As a little girl, I had a lot of big feelings and if I’m completely honest a big mouth. I loved to talk and that sometimes got me in trouble at home and at school. So, I would often turn to writing as a way to get those feelings out on paper and to keep myself out of trouble.
Besides writing, I’ve also been obsessed with clothes and shoes since I can remember. I was encouraged to have my own style and to wear what feels good to me. If I had to describe my style it would be comfy/tomboy chic. 99% of the time you can catch me in some fly kicks and a comfy fit. I love mixing masculine and feminine pieces together.
All of these loves led me here, to creating my blog ‘Erica Britt.’ Shortly after creating my blog, I started creating content and also became a freelance writer.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. I struggled with actually starting my blog and creating content. I was overthinking and struggled with a lack of confidence. I had the idea to start years before I actually did. But then one day I just decided to go for it and I’m so glad I did. I still have moments of self-doubt and imposter syndrome but I power through. There is no better feeling than having someone tell me that something I wrote resonated with them and made them not feel so alone or feel understood.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I wear a few different hats. Full-time I work in the clinical research industry. In addition to that I am a content creator, blogger, and freelance writer.
I am probably most known for my love of sneakers. I probably have over 75 pairs (and counting).
I am most proud of writing for xoNecole as a freelance writer. I literally manifested that opportunity and it still blows my mind to this day.
What sets me apart from others is probably my transparency. I am very transparent in both my blogs and when I create content. I am not afraid to say that I feel like quitting or that I’m sad, struggling, or just having a bad day. I have also been open about my therapy journey and how it is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
How do you think about luck?
Honestly, I don’t really believe in luck. I believe that what is for me will be for me in God’s timing. I also believe in the power of hard work and networking. Those are the things that have gotten me to where I am.
