Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica-Sinclair Mcbride
Erica-Sinclair, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am Erica-Sinclair McBride. Since I was a little girl all i’ve wanted to do was create, no matter art, film, music or fashion. Over the span of my life i’ve been through what I like to call an artistic evolution and i’m still evolving. Growing up me and my cousins would make our own music videos, short films, & execute photo shoots. We were the talent, stylist, directors, editors & even camera operators. Looking back that was the foundation for it all. I’ve always been a multifaceted person finding interest and skill in all things creative. At a young age, I witnessed my dad Eric McBride as an entrepreneur build his empire E&P Distributors, including my uncle Cornell McBride Sr., founder of Design Essentials & McBride Research Laboratories. This success & ambition showed me that it’s possible to maximize opportunity from the things you love and what others may consider “just a hobby”. When graduating highschool, I knew I’ve always wanted to take my creative journey seriously & a dream school of mine was always SCAD. I decided to enroll at SCAD, in Savannah, GA , into the School of Entertainment Arts with a focus of Film & Tv. I fell deeper in love with anything and everything to do with film and tv, from production to post production. Throughout my experience at SCAD & because of SCAD i’ve collaborated with alot of extremely talented peers on incredible independent projects. I’ve made lifelong friends & experiences. In June of 2022 I received my B.F.A degree from SCAD. I continued to pursue my creative journey . From music videos, editorial photo shoots, films, tv shows, & podcasts. I enjoy executing my ideas & visions, as well as helping other individuals express their visions as well. I came up with the concept of sinnsfx, a brand for me & a way for me to exhibit the multiple skills I possess. Focused to share and collaborate with other creatives, and the journey has been exciting. Ive paved out multiple roles for myself in my industry with preparation and opportunities, and among my occurring and thankful position at the illustrious Tyler Perry Studios. I never want to stop elevating, it’s always room for evolving and I have so much more to learn. I’ve definitely been able to blossom into the creative i’m meant to be with every day growth that Im so proud of.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road is never smooth but the outcome is always better than what we expected. Mind over matter always, and your faith has to be greater than all your fears.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a multifaceted individual in the film and tv industry. Known professionally as a Sound Mixer, Lighting Programmer/Operator & Creative Director. I am most proud of me maintaining my own lane confidently and not limited myself to one skill and talent. I feel like my passion about learning new things is why i’m always pursuing opportunity. It will take me to new heights. I honestly believe everyone should remain unique in their own way. If you want to be known professionally for 10 different things. DO IT, it’s all about balance.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I look at risk taking as the trust and confidence that you have in yourself. We are all worthy of going out on a limb, to bet on the best possible outcomes for ourselves. If you don’t take risk you stay in the same place. You cant remain comfortable if you want more. Everytime I come across an opportunity or a risk worth taking I think about younger me and how disappointed I would be if I didn’t take it. If we don’t take the risk we lose the opportunity, some things don’t come back around twice. I strongly believe that fear is the signal to take that step.
