Hi Halie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started Book Lush Events just over a year ago with a simple dream: I had fallen completely in love with A Court of Thorns and Roses and couldn’t stop imagining how incredible it would be to bring the magic of the Night Court to life. That dream turned into our very first Night Court Ball, and what started as a passion project quickly became something so much more. The event was not only incredibly fun, but it introduced me to an amazing community of fellow book lovers. The friendships, the shared excitement, and the pure joy of creating these immersive experiences made me realize this was what I wanted to do full time—and I haven’t looked back since.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There were definitely struggles and this is such a new industry.. Even down to my accountant trying to figure out how to file us, haha. Navigating the ups and downs in the community has definitely been the hardest part. Them getting to know me and my heart has made it easier but having it mainly be a social media driven job can be hard at times.

This role requires wearing all of those hats, often at once, and having hands-on experience in each area has been incredibly valuable. Beyond that, our commitment to advocacy is at the core of everything we do. We’re passionate about fair compensation for everyone involved and are deeply dedicated to creating events that are not only magical, but also safe, inclusive, and welcoming for all.
