Rising Stars: Meet Hanna Dice of Nashville, TN

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hanna Dice.

Hi Hanna, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
In May of 2020, I graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a BFA in Graphic Design. Graduating amidst a pandemic was a bit scary but after a short period of time, I found myself working as a freelance graphic designer. I now hold a content curator position in Nashville while continuing to freelance.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Right after I graduated I struggled for a little bit to find a creative job. While searching for a good fit, I took a remote customer service position while freelancing on the side. After a few months of endless job applications, I finally accepted a job as a photography and content curator at a local medical private practice.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My work ranges from digital to print design; I especially love designing typographic layouts for both realms. When working on personal projects, music and nature are some of my biggest influences. I tune into how I am feeling when listening to the music or being in nature and shine it through in my work.

When working on new client projects, I always make research my first step in the process. It is imperative to gaining a full understanding of the scope of the project and broadens the horizon for my future iterations. I highly value constructive criticism and strive to learn as much as I can through each experience. I truly believe that any failure is a stepping stone for professional and personal growth.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success means so many different things to so many different people. For me, I think in order to be successful I must learn from my mistakes and grow from them. Success also means being happy in my career and personal life. If I am not happy in both areas, I will not be successful.
