Today we’d like to introduce you to Humberto Garcia
Hi Humberto, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Just like most i started creating music as a hobby. I was drawn by wanting to emulate the sounds and melodies i heard in the many genres i grew up listening to. So it began as just that, a hobby, but slowly evolved and is continuing to evolve into more of a music career.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It most certainly has not been as easy as one would only dream of it being. I wish i could say it has been but stories like that are rare. I think in our society for most it is hard to find time and finances to be able to work on our business or career especially if you have a family like i do. Being pulled by priorities like family, raising children, making sure we are safe financially one way and working on your business pulling you another way has been one of my biggest things ive had to balance out. As well as whatever else day to day life can throw at you.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
So, i consider myself an artist now but i started off as a producer just making instrumentals and now i have transitioned into creating more than just the drums and minor melodies. I have been diving into making more theatrical and ambient songs layered with ambient vocals, synthesizers and trap drums influenced from both modern hip hop and electronic music, Some of my work that i have had the pleasure of being a part of include 2 short films titled “ain’t God alright” and “access control”. Currently working on another one titled “the solution” all produced and written by my great friend Andrew Bullard a.k.a AJB4 who actually has been a huge part of challenging me to become a better artist. As for being set apart from others? i don’t really think im that different, To me we have an innate desire to create and express ourselves in whatever we form we can. For me it just happens to be music and im blessed to be able to create amongst some very talented artists as well as be heard by the listeners that take time out of their day to listen and appreciate the art.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I would have to say something that most people don’t know about me is that i am my biggest critic. Sometimes it takes me an hour to create a song or sometimes it can take months. My longest has been 2 years so far. I have a hard drive full of songs i never released or that I’m just not satisfied with just yet. Perfectionism just something I’ve always wrestled within myself.
