Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamal Liverpool.
Hi Jamal, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
What got me started was growing up with my grandfather cooking in the kitchen, making a variety of Caribbean meals that he would love to cook and eat all the time. Growing up I was always in the food industry working, even through high school, in fast food chain restaurants such as Cracker Barrel’s and Ihop. As an adult I started working in hotels and upscale restaurants. Learning my experience as an executive chef at Ronald Reagan Airport, it inspired me to start my own brand Chef Jamals Kitchen.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Of nothing is smooth when you are starting a business. You have to learn how to be you through everything and do what you love and not forget that.
Some of the struggles I had was what can I do to grow, how can I get people to look at my food and want my food and services, what platforms will my brand pop on. Those were my common struggles.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I do a lot of gourmet style dishes, Caribbean seafoods and high end meats. Personal Chef services and Chef Consulting are my specialties. I’m known for my Tuscan Salmon, Pasta, Curry Chicken, Wood Flamed Jerk Chicken and Seafood Mac and Cheese. I’m most proud of the family I built with Chef Jamals Kitchen and the smiles I’ve put on people’s faces from my food, quality is always on the table. My flavors, sauces and combinations of unique foods set me apart.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Always be passionate about what you do and never think that’s just it. Always strive for the best.
