Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason C. Louder.
Hi Jason C., thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I like to say that Acting found me in 2009 and we’ve been in luv ever since… It started with a phone call from a good friend; asking if I wanted to go to an audition at Georgia State University. I went to the audition as green as I could be; not knowing anything about the craft of acting yet something spiritual took place in the audition room; it was literally and figuratively transcendent and afterwards, I was offered roles in several of the short pieces but chose the two that spoke to my soul; “Our Liberated Justice” & “Salam” and from that moment, my transformative journey in the craft of acting has been nothing short of miraculously serendipitous & magically Dope!
I poured myself into the craft, at first taking classes at ever acting studio I could find in Atlanta; Actor’s Breakthrough, Blueprint for Actors, Southwest Performing Arts Center, EVOLV Studios, Rob Pralgo Studios, etc.
I also threw myself into the beautiful world of theatre and that is where I can say I learned the craft of acting. Because it was through the invigorating process of rehearsal and truly connecting with my cast mates that I learned trust, vulnerability, active listening, and other highly effective tools that can be applied not only to acting but to life as a whole.
From there, my tribe continued to grow and grow and then serendipitously came the agent, which sparked my journey in television and then my interest in film; beginning with several student films, short films, Indie films and to this day I absolutely luv the Independent Film space because of it’s rawness, creative independence, and collective collaboration.
I’ve been truly blessed to have worked on several groundbreaking network television shows, cinematically prolific films, and resoundingly relevant stage productions. Which have all landed me to where I am now; in a magnetic & intentional position to collaborate, create and activate with other artists on their magical paths.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’ve learned that nothing in life worth having will ever be easy. That being said, I’ve come to welcome the challenges and obstacles that I’ve been faced with, as opportunities for growth and evolution. The struggles can indeed feel real; there’ve been moments where I’ve had financially instability, directional lack of clarity, and even times of spiritual incoherence. Yet through it all, I’m always reminded that GOD provides. I’m also tremendously grateful for my amazing community of family, friends, colleagues and creative partners and keenly aware that we must Always lean on each other through it all.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I can proudly say that I’m a Teacher, Coach, Storyteller, Creative Artist..I AM a Lover of Life!
You can see my work on the CW series “BlackLighting”, portraying the role ‘Frank 2-Bits Tanner’; neighborhood informant to Black Lightning. Also on the HULU series “Wu-Tang: An American Saga”, portraying the role of ‘CRESSY’; a Jamaican drug lord. And most recently and notably in the hit STARZ series “BMF”, portraying the role of ‘Remi Ransom’; community leader and misunderstood rival of lead character ‘Big Meech’.
Because I’ve been fully invested and blessed with some modicum of success in the field of acting, I’m now excitedly branching out into other areas of the industry; producing, directing, and even some writing. And the possibilities are limitless!
Yet I’m extremely proud of the role that I’m currently serving in at the Champion Theme Middle School, as Resident Teaching Artist for its Drama Program. There I’m able to marry both my luv for teaching and acting in a way that pays it forward to our next generation of transformational beings.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
People may not know that I was an Elementary & Middle School teacher for 16 years. And was blessed to be an educator with the beautifully humbling and profoundly activated experience of teaching at 2 highly respected and revered Independent Afro-Centric Academic Institutions in Atlanta, GA; Romar Academy & Imhotep Academy respectively.
