Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenny Day.
Hi Jenny, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Growing Up in the 70s and 80s I was always a tom boy per se, but I also always loved to dress and do my hair up in punky styles. In the early 90s I started modeling runway and local clothing stores and fell in love with it. After I graduated I also started selling Mary Kay. When I had to make a decision about college, whether to finish my business degree or find another path, Cosmetology seemed like the right answer. By this time, I was in my mid 20s I had already worked temp jobs and management jobs and knew I did not want to be behind a desk but much rather face to face helping people on a daily basis. I felt called and I knew I could definitely do that through cosmetology. I knew though, one day I would want my own salon. I have been in the business for well over 25 years. My salon, Salon Jen is in its second location because of growth. We are 8 years old as of this month. I still work behind the chair 5 days a week. I employ boothe and commission workers at my salon. I have 4 Master Cosmetologist and 1 Licensed Apprentice not including myself. We offer a Wide Range of Services from Waxing, Lash Extension, Cuts, Colors, Perms, Sets, Extensions, to much more.
We are a Wellness Focused Family Salon that Accepts All Ages and Genders.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No it has not been a smooth road. I started out on commission and hourly rates and sat there long hours and waited and past out business cards and talked, talked, talked hair to Everyone, even if they would not listen.. lol. I have had my own personal battles that my faithful clients have stuck with me and have blessed me. I did what I had to do to build my clientele into what it is today. And for that I always try to find ways to give back to them to. I am very thankful it is fortunately a very steady and solid one that I give God that Grace Everyday For.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I stay Busy. I do not Stop. I also own a Travel Franchise that has 4 associates under me.: Traveling With Jenny Worldwide- A Dream Vacations Franchise. My customers love using me for their vacations too. They know they can trust me without a shadow of a doubt. I am an extremely hard worker that is an over achiever which always has my clients Best Interest Always At Heart ❤️
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
That’s a hard one. There are too many to narrow down to just one. I have ones of a lot of favorite persons in my life that I have the most amazing memories with. Don’t get me wrong, I did not have a perfect childhood by no means, but I do have some pretty great memories too. The more you get to know me, the more you will learn about me and those memories.
