Today we’d like to introduce you to Jermaine Carter.
Hi Jermaine, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in Decatur, GA around the streets of Glenwood Rd. Growing up with difficult struggles and influences of the hood but always had the dream to become something bigger and bring something positive back to the hood. Growing up as a child, I would wait until everyone was asleep to stay up and watch comedy movies and was inspired by classics such as Martin, Friday, and Def Comedy Jam on VHS tapes, etc… That led to me to be known as the comedian at Columbia High School. Long story short, I have started my legacy in the comedy world. I have a beautiful, smart daughter she is my biggest accomplishment so far. Life is amazing.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I endured many struggles took many losses financial and physical losses. I went through ups and downs with death around me so many times but I keep going. Giving up is the easy way I just can’t go that route I refuse.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I do stand up comedy and I also host parties and events. I own a production company that specializes in embroidery. I am a jack of a lot of trades not all. I can make things happen that’s how I was given the name JUJU.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory would be….. I was in kindergarten and the kids would join other kids and it was a less fortunate student in the class and she was being talked about so I intervened and I used all the jokes I used at home around my brothers and family and I roasted all of the kids. Sad part is she became my best friend and was killed by a drunk driver that same year.
