Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Foyah and Coco-Chanel.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
HIIT The Beat is a workout brand that was created by me, Jessica Foyah, and Coco-Chanel Jones, our workout brand started as a result of being co-instructors for a gym at which we were both trainers. We realized during our time as instructors for the class that our workout styles were very closely aligned. We were both very motivated by incorporating music into our class workout routines and we were both passionate about teaching classes.
Because of this, we later decided to infuse our brands by creating a class and brand called HIIT The Beat. HIIT the Beat is where high intensity meets rhythm. HIIT The Beat is a high-energy & music-driven workout that builds each client’s strength and cardio stamina.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Our HIIT The Beat brand is in the very beginning stages therefore it is faced with the challenges that come with slow growth. Because both Coco and I love what we do, we welcome the challenges and operate from a mindset of patience. If we move with love and care in what we do, we have no choice but to grow. Other than the slow build that comes with starting a business, especially a fitness class, there haven’t been any major struggles.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
HIIT The Beat is a fuse between Hip-Hop Step and Charg’D up movements. We’re a fitness class that focuses on helping women start their journey by working out to high-energy, feel-good music. Our goal is to maximize each client’s calorie burn by creating movements that strategically follow the beat of music heightening the overall workout experience.
We’ve created a class that focuses on positive energy, building connections, and fostering a community. Our end-of-class tradition is to high-five the woman next to us and tell her, “YOU DID THAT.” Our motto for working out is to start with what motivates you and brings you the most joy. For us, it’s working out to the tempo of high energy feel-good or hard-hitting music. We are millennials at heart, so we specifically target hip-hop music from the 90s and early 2000s. The goal is to leave our class feeling better than when you walked in. We often say, “We’ll bring the vibe, and you bring the energy.”
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
We lean heavily on self-will and our personal faith when it comes to success or failures within our brand. I’m a strong believer in the mindset that we have almost total control of what happens and if it is meant to be it shall be, luck aside. A large piece of the journey is about timing and what we do with the opportunities presented to us.
