Today we’d like to introduce you to Joseph Isaac.
Hi Joseph, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up surrounded by jewelry — my parents owned stores in the U.S. Virgin Islands, so from an early age I was around gold, diamonds, and craftsmanship. After graduating high school, I decided to follow that path instead of going to college. I started out doing bridal jewelry and repairs, which taught me a lot about precision and quality, but over time it started feeling repetitive — the same small repairs every day with no room for creativity.
That’s when I decided to step out of my comfort zone and pursue custom work. I began moving through different shops in Atlanta, learning new techniques and finding my own style. Over time, I became efficient in Cad, stone setting, fabrication, casting, and polishing — skills that allowed me to bring real creative vision to life instead of just fixing other people’s work.
Now I specialize in creating custom pieces that reflect individuality, blending artistry and craftsmanship in every design. It’s been a journey of growth, risk, and self-belief — and it’s only just beginning.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. In the beginning, I had to prove myself constantly — a lot of people don’t take you seriously until you’ve built a name, especially in the jewelry world. I went from shop to shop trying to learn as much as I could, and even went out of state to work in different jewelry stores just to gain experience from other jewelers and learn new techniques. Most of what I know came from trial and error — figuring things out the hard way, failing, fixing, and trying again until I got it right.
Jewelry has always been my life. It’s the only skill I’ve ever had and the only work I’ve ever done. But at one point, I joined the U.S. Army and became a 12B Combat Engineer. That experience temporarily slowed down my momentum in jewelry, but it gave me something I didn’t have before — real discipline, focus, and mental toughness.
When I came back, I was sharper, more driven, and more dedicated than ever. I applied that discipline to my craft and started pushing my work to a higher level. Every challenge I’ve faced — from finding mentors to building everything from scratch — shaped me into the jeweler I am today: someone who can adapt, create, and deliver quality at a high level no matter what.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a custom jeweler who specializes in creating unique, high-quality pieces — from gold teeth and grillz to fully custom jewelry. I’m known for blending creativity with precision, putting extra focus on the details and the overall finish of every piece.
What sets me apart is the level of care and pride I put into my work. I handle everything from fabrication and setting stones to polishing and quality control, making sure each piece not only looks good but feels right to the person wearing it.
I take the most pride in seeing someone’s reaction when they get their piece — that moment when they realize it’s exactly what they imagined, or better. My goal is always to bring people’s ideas to life and make something they’ll never forget.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
If you’re just starting out, be patient and stay consistent. Jewelry takes time — it’s not something you master overnight. Learn every part of the process, even the small stuff, because that’s what builds real skill and confidence.
Don’t be afraid to fail or mess up — every mistake teaches you something. A lot of people want to jump straight into custom work, but the foundation comes from repetition, patience, and discipline.
And one thing I’ve learned is that building connections and keeping a good face card goes a long way. Your reputation can open more doors than your resume. Treat people right, stay solid, and always let your work speak for itself.
I wish I knew earlier that patience, persistence, and relationships matter just as much as talent.
