Today we’d like to introduce you to Josh Cozy.
Hi Josh, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I remember finally getting a chance to record with homies Sheed and Dom back on a cassette tape growing up young. Funny, we were proud of that song only for Sheed dad to record over it. The years passed by and I always had somewhat of a musical background. my whole family is musically inclined. Fast forward to 2017 and I fully step into myself. The artist me, since then its been growth, learning and evolving
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been. Lot of self-doubts, lack of finances/resources held back some progress, missed a few windows of opportunity and just friendships fizzling out. It’s a lot for anyone to navigate. Then the pandemic came and knocked everything all over the place. Staying strong with grace. Giving grace and faith.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I make music! It’s hard to categorize it but it’s a thin line between hip hop and RnB, if I had to put it anyway. I’m most proud of making the front of Forever 21 men’s with a photoshoot. I’m proud of the creative collective I’ve helped put together and run. Black Smilez! I’m proud of the consistency I’ve been able to maintain despite life’s curveballs.
What’s next?
I’m currently about to release my second studio album: Everything Changes.
It’s reflective of all the things going on around me, my friends, life, relations, kids and sorta healing for me. It’ll be available everywhere on February 3rd.
