Today we’d like to introduce you to Keila Martinez
Hi Keila, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I discovered my passion for the beauty industry back in 2013. I started off doing freelance makeup catering more towards the latin community. Months after feeling secured in my work I wanted to expand and started working with big known makeup companies to expand my knowledge. After years of growing in the industry I decided to into Cosmetology school. There I fell in love with doing hair and seeing the huge impact it made into a women’s life.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
A huge challenge was being young and trying to grow a clientele. I felt like I had to go out of my way for women to build trust in me to even touch their hair, as I was one of the youngest in all the salons I worked in. Once they saw my work it was a smooth ride from there, as they recommend me to anyone they could.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a Master Cosmetologist that specializes in Balayage and color for Latin hair. I also offer makeup and bridal services. I am proud of how far I have came in the industry once I decided to be independent and work for myself. What sets me apart is that I build a genuine connection with majority of my clients, I like to customize each appointment for every client. My goal is always to create a safe welcoming space for anyone who sits in my chair.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Delivery and communication. Being honest with what you are able to deliver and create for your client. That will build trust and you will always have happy returning clients. A major quality is having a kind personality, it’s always important to make everyone feel comfortable and have a great experience as they are choosing you out of many stylist.
