Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimiko Williams.
Hi Kimiko, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always had a love for photography since middle school. However, it wasn’t until I became an adult that I was finally able to purchase my own camera and start exploring my passion. Over the years, I’ve honed my skills by practicing on friends and my peers in the community until I felt I was capable of paid work.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Staying consistent and not being overwhelmed by creative blocks describe some of my main struggles. Being in the age of social media content is being out with speed, and if you want to stay relevant, you have to meet the speed.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As a photographer, I specialize in creative portraits that capture the unique personality and individuality of my subjects.
One thing that sets me apart from others is my commitment to consistency. I believe that consistency is key when it comes to creating quality work, and I make sure to approach each photo shoot with the same level of care and attention to detail. As a result, I’ve been recognized as a talented and dedicated photographer in a field where men still dominate.
I’m most proud of is the relationships I’ve built with my clients over the years. It’s incredibly rewarding to be able to capture important moments in their lives and create images that they’ll treasure for years.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Definitely. In order to even start a business you must risk money and time hoping that what you envision will come to fruition. Being able to even reach out to people was also a risk for me because I grew up staying to myself a lot, I had to force myself out of my comfort zone. I believe calculated risks are needed in life, especially when pursuing what you love.
