Today we’d like to introduce you to Krista Allen.
Hi Krista, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m the owner and founder of The Post Op Sisters. I’m from Philadelphia, PA. I have been a nurse for almost five years now, nursing is truly my passion and calling. However, when the pandemic hit, I got burned out in the hospital. I was torn, I knew I didn’t want to leave the nursing field, but I also knew bedside wasn’t for me. I began researching aesthetic nursing, networking with other nurses. I was already obsessed with plastic surgery but once I realized I could use my love for plastics in nursing as an entrepreneur, it was like a light bulb went off. I began taking classes, traveling to different areas of the country for proper training. Lastly, taking that leap of faith and not letting fear stop me from starting my business. In spring of 2021, The Post Op Sisters launched. Our team consists of three nurses, Shanice Clark who is my best friend for 25 years and my sister, Desiree Grant. Since day 1 we have had inquiries, which I’m ever so grateful for. All of our services are performed in the comfort of the client’s home, hotel or Airbnb. We offer post operative care after plastic surgery as well as body contouring. The Post Op Sisters also travel care for clients who are having surgery in another state. We have had the pleasure of building so many relationships, not only with clients but colleagues around the country from travel care. I can not express how humble and grateful I am for this journey. In 2022, we’re going to expand, so look out for The Post Op Sisters.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I would be lying if I said this has been a smooth road. Starting a business in the middle of a pandemic has got to be one the most courageous things. Surprisingly, we took off the on the very first day. However, we’ve had our challenges along the way, from business slowing up at times to marketing to finding the time to expand the business. It truly has been a journey, but I’m learning and rolling with the punches.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I have been a nurse for the past five years. My background includes cosmetic dermatology, med surg, public health, drug and alcohol and long-term care. I’m proud that no matter what aspect of nursing I’ve done, I was able to leave an impression on people’s lives.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I’m currently looking to expand my team in different states. Later this year, I’ll be hosting classes for those professionals that’s interested in learning about post-operative care.
