Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristin Replogle.
Hi Kristin, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
In 2003, my life was radically changed when I was diagnosed with B- Cell lymphoma. I also had three blood clots. One under my left arm, one in my left lung, and one in my left jugular vein. I went through all of the prescribed chemotherapy and radiation treatments. The blood thinners cleared two of the blood clots, but the third blood clot in my neck remained. When blood clots are in your body for more than six months, they become a part of your body, and the treatment is to be on blood thinners for the rest of your life. I continued using blood thinners for the next year and a half when I began to develop an allergy to the blood thinners. My doctor rotated me around on all of the blood thinners available at the time.
When I developed an allergy to the last one, he told me he couldn’t help me anymore. I went home in shock. I had been through so much, and this blood clot was going to take me out. I was going to die. I was exhausted mentally and physically from fighting cancer. I had two small children that I wanted to raise. I began to sob, and I prayed to God, “I can’t do this anymore. You will have to do it for me because I can’t”. I then heard a pop in my neck, and I felt my symptoms dissipate. I went back to my doctor and told him what had happened. He said, “You prayed your blood clot away?” and I said, “Yes”. He then sonogrammed my neck and could not find the clot. He then sent me to imaging to have a CT scan to see if it moved anywhere else in my body. They could not find the blood clot anywhere. I was taken off of the blood thinners and healed. It was a miracle. That moment in time altered the direction of my life and art.
Since the miracle, I slowly began receiving images in dreams and visions to paint. As time went on, the images became more frequent, sometimes multiple images in a night. The images in my dreams are vivid and intense. They will wake me during the night or early morning. I keep a journal by my bed, and I will rise and sketch the images I am given and make notes regarding color and composition. While creating the images I receive from dreams; I also receive messages of love or prayers with their response from God that corresponds with each image. I then write these messages or prayers on the back of each piece. Upon completion, I hold and pray over each piece.
I have come to understand and know each piece I create truly belongs to someone. I view my work as a love letter from God, complete with a unique picture. He sees us, hears us, is mindful of us, and most of all, loves us deeply. I see myself as simply the messenger. When a piece falls into the right hands, it is a true and beautiful gift to witness the Spirit move and touch someone’s heart with my art and message. My art has gone around the world.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been an easy road, but it has been a gratifying and fulfilling road full of awe in God. I wouldn’t want to be doing anything else. I am always amazed at how He sees and hears each one of us, is mindful of us, and how so very detailed He is.
My first struggle was simply what to do with what I have been given. But, seeking God in His Word and through prayer and spending time with Him has helped me try to be in step with Him. I have learned it is okay to make mistakes. They are part of the learning and growing process. What I had viewed as failures have actually been steps to direct me, mold me, teach me, and help me learn. The greatest thing I am learning is who God is, what His character is like, His love for all of us, and my purpose and identity in Him. But when you ask for His help and direction, He will give it to you.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I create multi-media images that are given to me in dreams and visions. Each piece of art I create is one of a kind. I use acrylic, handmade papers, and metallic paint on wood, paper, or canvas. Each unique piece is accompanied by a prayer or message. I am mostly known for my Prayer Panels, which are on wood. I am in awe that my work is not just local but has gone to other states and around the world to strengthen and encourage others. I keep a map in my studio marked with countries where my art has gone. Over time, I have enjoyed hearing how prayers have been answered or my work has comforted people.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Ever since I was a child, I have always loved art and creating. I have also been and am a deep thinker, introspective, and one who enjoys solitude. I enjoy being outside and the closeness I feel to God when I am in it. God’s creation is awe-inspiring, yet I have also admired and been fascinated by man’s created beauty, such as art, design, and architecture.
