Today we’d like to introduce you to Landon Ashworth
Hi Landon, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was a bullied autistic kid from a cornfield in the middle of no where that knew that they needed out. I set my sights on being an astronaut because I felt a need to prove to the world that I mattered and I wasn’t what the bullied told me I was. After flight school NASA continually moved the goal line of what they wanted in an astronaut candidate so I transitioned into film making and have been a TV actor, writer, and director ever since. I’m currently working on pre-production for a movie I wrote about mental health and the afterlife that I’ll direct and star in this year.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Nothing has been smooth. Being autistic, I struggle with social anxiety daily. In an industry where your career is only as good as your ability to network I ended up having to out-work, out-perform, and out-talent anyone who could simply pick up a phone to get their projects made or get cast in a tv show. Once on set I had to mask my autism to appear normal and in control. It becomes exhausting hiding who you are but it’s required when breaking into the industry if you’re neurodivergent.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a tv actor, writer, film actor, and tv commercial director. I’m known for my viral sketch comedy having over 2 million followers to my sketch comedy channels. I do both sketch comedy and golf vlogging. I’m known for being an autistic golfer, and never selling out and becoming an “influencer”. I’ve turned down every single branded offer I’ve been approached with. I feel my audience deserves a place on the internet where they aren’t sold to. Granted that pride has cost me a lot of money, but at least I can sleep at night knowing I’m true to myself.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I wouldn’t be able to do this without the support of my wife Genevieve. She is the reason I started making sketch comedy and have any fame. She’s the reason I’m able to pursue my dreams.
